could luke really have been able to defeat vader?
i mean, we've all seen return of the jedi. sure, luke is victorious. but i wonder, did vader just let him win? i mean vader didn't seem to be fighting at 100% on that one. he was just going through the motions, i guess. he tried to get hiss son to join him so that they could overthrow the emperor. luke wouldn't do it. so, vader takes him to the emperor so that he could turn him. vader didn't want to kill his own son. maybe vader just wanted luke to kill him so that he would survive and turn to the dark side. but then luke wouldn't even do that. tahts when the emperor stands up and starts to kill luke. and of course vader kills the emperor to prevent his sons death. maybe vader just threw that fight to save his son. know what i mean?

Vader, I think was truly beaten down. He was defeated by the dark side. You see Luke with all the fury and the shear hatred. Luke was stronger than Vader.

If you think about it Vader was older and the intensity was blown out of proportion when he mentioned sister. This would have driven anyone to the edge. I think Luke's anger was justified in ending this once and for all. Even though he may have stood strong against Palpatine Vader realized this was the last of his family and he would not have let anyone destroy that. You can look at at it as the saying in this case. " I brought you into this world and only I can take you out". Hence, throwing the Emperor into the power source of the new death star.
