Hey, everybody. This is a list of all of the Star Wars foreshadowing lines, that seem to predict the future, in an odd way, usually. Sometimes without the character knowing it. Please post comments if you would happen to think of any that were not here. It seems most of the lines were in TPM and AOTC. Either that or I am too tired to post this now. I will most likely update this sometime. Correct me on these if I am wrong in any way, please.
TPM:
Anakin: I had a dream I was a Jedi...
This is kinda weird because of his foreseeing power, through dreams, he predicted without knowing (I believe) that he would be a Jedi. The only thing is that he didn't free all the slaves, he became a slave, pretty much.
Yoda: Clouded this boy's future is...
This is a no brainer. Yoda says this in the council room when they are examining Anakin.
Qui-Gon: There's something else behind all this, your highness.
There was. But only kinda what he meant I think. It could have been interpreted that he was referring to Darth Sidious. Although he probably meant just the invasion.
Obi-Wan: I sense a disturbance in the force. It's not about the mission master, its something elsewhere.
According to Jediknight2210, this means Palpatine's big plans. The fate of the galaxy. Thanks, Jediknight2210.
Qui-Gon: He will bring balance...
This is very true, but he does a lot of bad stuff along the way. This is also a no-brainer.
Darth Maul: at least we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi, at last we will have revenge.
Thanks to Sol Kassar for this one. I once again forgot about it. Yes, this foreshadows the events in episode III, although Maul probably had it planned differently.
Yoda: Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear Leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you.
This is also kinda obvious. I guess I missed it. This describes ma lot what happened to Anakin throught the movies. Especially ROTS. He is fearful of losing Padme, and his mother. He then becomes angry at the Jedi/Tuskens. Then he grows to hate them. After Padme dies, he goes through hell, in a suit. From a way, you could be mad at Anakin, or you can feel sorry for him. Thanks to redhawk23 for this one.
AOTC:
Queen Jamillia: The day we stop believing democracy can work is the day we lose it.
So true... If you haven't already, think about it. In that episode, later, they thought voting that chancellor emergency powers would be useful. They didn't believe democracy would work, so they lost it. They lost it, that is, until the New Republic.
Obi-Wan: Why do I get the feeling you are going to be the death of me?
Obi-Wan says this to Anakin at that club when hunting Zam Wuzzel. He is kinda right, unless you consider Anakin and Vader to be totally separate people. But even then, he does kill Obi-Wan in ANH. This is one of my favorite foreshadowing lines.
Anakin: I don't think the system works. We need a system where the politicians sit down, and discuss the problem, agree what's in the best interest of all the people, and then do it. (Padme says her line) Well then they should be made to agree. (Padme's line) No, of course not me. (Padme's line) Well, if it works.
I kinda don't entirely understand this part. I think it means that Anakin would turn into Vader, and run a dictatorship/monarchy. But that's just me.
Count Dooku: Brave of you, boy. But I thought you had learned your lesson. Anakin: I am a slow learner.
Anakin is a very slow learner, as you may have noticed. This especially applies (in my opinion) to ROTJ. When Vader, after many, many years of being Vader, he finally learns to realize his mistake. Luke and Obi-Wan tried to talk him out of it, but he didn't listen. Now he finally learned what he should have so long ago.
Padme: You're not all powerful, Ani. Anakin: Well, I should be... someday I will be!
He is almost all powerful in his empire. Except he must obey the emperor. He did become a pretty powerful Jedi, too.
Padme: We'd be living a lie, one we couldn't keep even if we wanted to. I couldn't do that. Could you Anakin? Could you live like that?
This is very true. They certainly couldn't keep the secret. Mostly because Anakin foresaw Padme's death. Then he became Vader, and he couldn't keep the secret if he wanted to.
Padme: I think our lives are about to be destroyed, anyway.
They would be destroyed, after the next three years, because they fell in love, indirectly. Anakin really did destroy his and her life more painfully than any other way I could think of.
Anakin: We will find out who's trying to kill you, Padme. I promise you.
I think that in ROTJ, Vader only found out that Sidious was trying to kill Padme in AOTC, when he destroyed Palpatine. He may have in ROTS, but I doubt it. I think that may have been part of the reason he killed him.
Anakin: You are gonna pay for all the Jedi that you have killed today, Dooku.
this really doesn't seem to foreshadow anything, but I believe the reason Lucas put this in here is just cuz Anakin turned to the dark side. It seems a bit spontanious in the movie. That is partially why I think that.
Obi-Wan: Cloners, are they friendly? Dex: Well, that depends.
This symbolizes that the cloners are obviously very friendly if they are on your side, but if they aren't, they will not be friendly. It mostly predicts that they will demonstarte how friendly and not friendly the clones can be.
ROTS:
General Grievous: Army or not, you must realize; you are doomed!
A good catch by Sol Kassar. This is good because I think it means that if the army didn't come, the sepratists would take his life. If the Republic Army did come, they both would try to take his life. I don't think Grievous was aware of this fully, but it is so true. Good one.
Yoda: Into exile I must go.
True. According to the prophacy, it was pretty useless of Yoda to try to kill Sidious, because according to it, he would fail. Thanks to jedimaster13109 for another line I forgot.
Sidious: Darth Vader will become more powerful then either of us!
Yea, this is true. he is very powerful. I believe that Vader was at his most powerful in the Obi-Wan duel. The suit really slowed him down. Thanks to Sol Kassar for this one.
Padme: are you saying your love for me has blinded you? But it's probably true.
This is a very true line. Anakin's love for Padme blinded him, cuz he betrayed the Jedi. This is one of the best foreshadowing line, I think.
Anakin: The Chancellor; I can overthrow him!
Another sort of no-brainer. Anakin overthrew the Emperor in ROTJ. What he would do next, or if he did do it, depended on what he was feeling at that moment.
Palpatine: Are you going to kill me? Anakin: I would certainly like to!
This one is quite obvious that Anakin pretty much wants to kill him throughout the entire saga, but is either waiting for the right time, or didn't have the opportunity, or didn't quite realize he wanted to kill him up until the end of ROTJ. I think he pretty much stopped trying after ROTS. Poor Anakin...
Mace: I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi.
Here is another obvious one... that I missed the first round. Mace says this cuz he is very suspicious of Palpatine. What I want to know is why he didn't do anything sooner, cuz he thought that the dark side surrounded the chancellor, and sensed a plot to destroy the Jedi.
Anakin: I am not the Jedi I should be.
Obviously, this foreshadows the events at the end of ROTS. Anakin became Darth Vader. You know the rest. Thanks again to Sol Kassar for this.
Padme: What if the republic has become the very evil we have been trying to destroy?
This became true as time went on especially. It pretty much became true as soon as Palpatine got emergency in power. It became really true when it became the Empire.
Cody: Oh, I think you'll be needing this. (Hands Obi-Wan his saber)
I don't know if this one is just me, but I think this foreshadows that both his clone troops will turn on him, but moreso that he will use it to fight anakin later. I think it may have been the way he said it. This is a very subtle one.
ANH:
Luke: Alderaan? I'm not going to Alderaan.
He was right, with a small twist; Alderaan was destroyed. That was obviously the reason for it.
Han: I dunno, whadaya think? You think a princess and a guy like me....
I think we all know what he was gonna say there. He was very right. Another no-brainer.
Vader: I sense something, a presence I have not felt since...
Vader sensed Obi-Wan Kenobi. There is a slight possibility that he meant Luke, but he said that he sensed his old master, and so I think it was either just Kenobi, or both. Thanks to Darius, Lord Of The Sith for this.
Vader: Escape is not his plan.
This foreshadows that Obi-Wan will not leave the death star. Further, it symbolizes that he will sacrafice himself to save Luke. thanks again to Darius.
TESB:
Dak: Well, right now I feel I could take on the whole empire myself! Luke: I know what you mean.
Thanks to dont_f_with_yoda for this line here. I agree with him that this does foreshadow that Luke will confront the emperor. In ROTJ, he realizes he is the one who has to do it. Although it was truely Anakin who took on the empire and emporer. He couldn't have done it without help, however. I also believe this foreshadows later in TESB. You know, when Luke thinks he can take on Vader by himself and save Han and Leia? I think it also foreshadows this as well.
Yoda: No, there is another.
Thanks to Rive Caedo for this line. I guess I was just a bit tired, whoops. Thanks for catching that, Rive Caedo. This one he is refering to Leia.
Yoda: Only a fully trained Jedi knight, with the force as his ally, will conquer Vader, and his emperor.
I forgot about this one, but just remembered it. Sort of true. Luke helped conquer Vader, but I believe that it was truely Anakin who conquered both. He was a fully trained Jedi knight, from a certain point of view.
ROTJ:
Yoda: Do not... do not underestimate the powers of the emperor, or suffer your father's fate, you will.
Thanks again to Rive Caedo for this one. I forgot about this. This only sort of foreshadows, though. It doesn't really foreshadow cuz it never happened, well what he said might happen. What Yoda instructed did happen, of course.
Luke: Your overconfidence is your weakness.
Thanks to Darklord Zor for this one. This obviosly foreshadows the emperor's death and the fall of the Empire. Palpatine was very overconfident, but it wasn't his weakness 'till ROTJ.
Palpatine: Patience my good friend. In time, he will seek you out.
Palpatine: He will come before you, and you will bring him before me.
This symbolizes that Luke wants to turn his father back to the light side, and he will seek Vader out. Thanks to JadenNightsaber for this.
Palpatine: Young fool, only now, at the end do you understand.
This would have almost made more sense directed to Vader. There were a lot of things from Anakin's point of view, that make him turn to the darkside. Almost all of them could be explained easily and sensibly with the Jedi coming off better than they did. Anakin didn't see these until Sidious tried to kill Luke. Which goes with Sidious' line, only Sidious wasn't talking to Anakin.
Hey, you may have noticed a few of these had perhaps double meanings. Inform me if these double meanings are merely in my head, or not. What does everybody think? If you can think of anything else, I will be happy to read it. I will put your name in my blog certainly if you give me a line I missed. Also, just plain comment if you liked my post, please. Thanks.
