"Pretty. What do we blow up first?"

I'm back, I hope...
Howdy, everybody. I apologize for being away for so long (nearly two years).

Here's a quick story as to why I haven't posted in so long. In October 2006, I went to Europe to attend a speculative fiction convention. My eyes were bothering me on the trip. After my return, they got worse, and at the end of November I went in to see an opthalmologist to find out why.

As he was examining me, I all but heard his guts clench. Mere days later, he had me in rush surgery in an effort to save my eyesight. I had retinopathy in my left eye, glaucoma in my right, and things were bad. The operation did save what was left of my vision (I have some permanent visual impairment now, but can still enjoy photographs of Salma Hayek), but the recuperation went on for months, and when I was able to work again, my life was hopelessly backed up, with no Roto-Rooter in sight.

A year later, things are starting to get back to normal, so I'm going to try to return to blogging here on an occasional basis. I can't promise much more than that.

Anyway, thanks for being patient.

We are so happpy to have you back! :D I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you. How scary. And I agree with you . . . it's never easy digging out from out under. (I'm in the process of doing just that right now . . . and I find I'm getting deeper and deeper!)

Take care!

I'm glad the surgery was sucessful. I can just imagine the frustration you might have felt if you had lost all your vision. Congratulations on a wonderful recovery and may the Force be with you!
