UPDATE: Looks like my involvement in the award is over. I topped out at 14 votes, tying distinguished Star Wars author Timothy Zahn. Not bad for a farmboy from California ... I mean, fanboy.
Thanks for the nomination and votes, folks! It's been an honor.
What does the
cool side of the Force look like?
Lemme tell you, homeboy ... pretty cool.
I'm flattered and flabbergasted about a bit of recent news I've come across. The knowledgeable cats over at
Wookieepedia have nominated "Abel G. Peņa" for the title of
Coolest Thing Ever in Star Wars, a tribute developed in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the saga.
I'm only one among an eclectic cast of 200-plus candidates -- inanimate, animate, and animated -- that looks like it belongs on a California recall election ballot. The nominees for coolest "thing" ever in Star Wars run the gamut from characters like Yoda and Thrawn, music like The Imperial March and the cantina band song, movie quotations like Palpatine's "Unlimited power!", cool designs like Luke's poncho and Leia's infamous hairdo, lightsaber duels like Luke vs. Vader, simple things like the straightforward nominations "aliens" and "lightsabers," silly things like "K'Kruhk's Hat" and "Killer-RoboLeia-2000," and finally real people like the heroic Ghyslain (a.k.a. The Star Wars Kid), the maker George Lucas, and yours truly. It looks like Yoda and The Imperial March are killing the competition,
but at 11 votes, I'm not doing too shabby.
I'm always very touched by this sort of acknowledgment. I put a lot of hours and passion into my Star Wars work, and have always tried to treat the fans with respect and as friends. Thanks for being so cool in kind. You like me. You really like me.
The
Wookieepedia nominees I mentioned are only the tip of the iceberg, so pop over there and check out the rest of the coolest things to ever grace that awesome galaxy far, far away
