Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter, Warrior, and Father. I am curious as to why Jango accepted Tyranus' offer to be the template for the clones. Okay, Jango was the best at what he does (hunting and killing) and Tyranus, along with Kaminoans, offered him a lot of money. Was that it, was Jango just grubbing for money? Jango was a bounty hunter and appeared to be doing okay for himself (starship, weapons, and equipment). I don't believe money was a huge issue for Jango. What could the Sith offer him that would warrant the inherent danger of going up against the Jedi and Republic? Jango was a smart man. I'm sure he was aware of what he was being asked to provide and what the consequences would be, whether he was familiar with the totality of the Sith plan or not. We know about his desire for an 'unaltered' clone, Boba. Was this the opportunity Tyranus offered Jango: a son? What happened in Jango's life that would force (pun intended) such a hard and efficient killer to desire a son so much he would challenge the galactic order? Did anything happen in Jango's life that prevented a son before, that might have increased this desire? Perhaps Jango saw a chance to perpetuate the Mandalorian line through Boba and the clones? Did Jango view the clones as offspring and kinsman? Did that desire drive his training, wanting the clones to be the best of the best with the hope that some would survive the war?
My take on Jango is that he was cynical man in a desperate search for meaning. Finding his bounty, no matter how challenging or how profitable, was not enough for him. Additionally, based on his experiences, he became acutely aware of the duplicitous nature of most living beings: the lies, the treachery, the back-stabbing. Being one of the last Mandalorians and proud of his lineage, I think Jango wanted to bring a 'honorable' order back into being, no matter what side they worked for, to show the galaxy what a 'real' warrior race was (as opposed to those of the Jedi and Sith).
I'll end by saying I consider the clones, as much as the Sith and Jedi, to be a singular force in the Star Wars galaxy. Where the Sith and Jedi represented dark and light aspects of the Force, the clones ignored the Force entirely, surviving by will and skill alone (that's not to say they weren't affected by it). The lightsaber might be a more elegant weapon, but you ignore a Jango-clone at your peril.
Thanks!
