I Can't "C"!
LANDO: No, wait! I thought you were blind!
HAN: It's all right. Trust me. Don't move.
Return of the Jedi

------------------------------------------------------

It's been just over 2-weeks since I had my vision corrected via laser. As I told a few folks, it's been quite the adventure so far. The surgery went well and I am currently undergoing the recuperation phase. I see well enough to drive without glasses - something I've never done since obtaining my license over 21-years ago. My vision has not stabilized yet and I still have some waning side-effects but overall I'm happy beyond words. When you think about it, a 30-second zap from a laser cured 30-years of really bad eyesight and astigmatism - WOW! I really don't understand how this could be considered a cosmetic surgery since it allows you to permanently discard a medical device (i.e. eyeglasses) you couldn't function without. Again, it's incredible.

As great as it is to see without itchy contact lenses or dull eyeglasses, I still find myself saddened that I won't be able to see those of you attending Celebrations IV and enjoying the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars. I would love to be able to hide my jealousy by claiming I have much more exciting plans, but the fact is I don't. Although the reasons for my not attending remain as true today as when I first announced I would not be going, it does nothing to diminish the desire I had to meet as many of you as possible. I will always wonder what it would have been like, or how nervous it would make me, to meet more of you. I'm absolutely sure it couldn't be any less fun than meeting JP77 several weeks ago (minus the cookies ;)).

At any rate, I will miss those of you vying for position and seats among the various booths, shows, and meet and greets. I will do my best to keep up with the photos and videos that will be posted throughout the event being ever on the lookout for those that blog here. And I will be wishing I could be there...with you and your pitiful little - make that large (no, make that extra large) - band.

Take care, enjoy, and watch yourself...that place can be a little rough.
