To fans of my series of blogs on this topic, I apologize. School has been busy and I have had less time for pleasure reading.
My previous review for book seven:
Jedi Apprentice 7: The Captive Temple
It is interesting to see Qui-gon and Obi-wan out on a mission again. But this is not a mission given to them by the council. Qui-gon defied them by leaving in his pursuit of Xanatos. He told Obi-wan he does not need to come with him, but Obi-wan is devoted to Qui-gon.
From the back cover:
Qui-Gon Jinn's evil former apprentice, Xanatos, has set a trap for his old Master. He has lured Qui-Gon and young Obi-Wan Kenobi to his home planet of Telos...and has framed them for a crime they did not commit.
The penalty is death.
Suddenly Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are fugitives on a planet where everyone is an enemy.
Xanatos' day of reckoning has come.
This book is all about Qui-gon and Obi-wan on Xanatos' home planet of Telos. Sound familiar? It should, it is the planet that is a popular planet from the KOTOR series. Remember that this book was written way before the game.
Jude Watson does a very nice job with Qui-gon's wisdom in this book, my 2 favorite Qui-gon lines:
"You cannot prevent what you cannot see coming. You can only do what you think is right at each moment as you live it. We can plan, hope, and dread the future. What we cannot do is know."
"Life does not treat you fairly or unfairly, it merely is. It is up to each of us to be fair, or unfair."
The man is a
genius my friends.
Qui-gon and Obi-wan meet 2 new friends, Den and Andra. They become instrumental in their mission of stopping Xanatos.
The ending is very good and had me hooked. Xanatos' is used very well by Watson in this book. His taunts and actions are well done.
