I've been collecting the odd pack of Star Wars Miniatures for a while now. They look spiffy. Let's face it, who on Earth wouldn't want their very own Bastila?

Anyhoo, I recently discovered that a couple of my old school buddies are big Miniatures fans, and that they actually play in the DCI Tournament sanctioned by Wizards of the Coast. Last Tuesday night they were kind enough to take me along to an event, and thus began my latest Star Wars-related addiction.

This particular event was called a Bounty Hunters "Booster Draw". This is where a competitor is required to purchase two Bounty Hunter booster packs (at a heaviliy discounted price), and make up a 200-point squad from these packs only. I was lucky enough to pick up a very rare and powerful Boba Fett figure from one of my packs.

I was very apprehensive at first; here I was entering an international ranking system, without ever having played before. I didn't even know the rules.

Thankfully - while I wouldn't call the game itself "easy" - it takes no time at all to catch on. I learned the game as I was playing it and somehow managed to win 2 of my 3 games. Not bad for a noob, I thought.

The dude that beat me in the second game was some 14-year-old kid called Kenny, who is ranked 2nd in Australia, no less.

Tournament games occur every Tuesday night, which turns out to be lucky for me since it's the same night that my girlfriend is at college. So rest assured, you'll know how I'll be spending my Tuesday nights from now on.
