First off before reading on study this photo... this pretty much sums up my whole evening right there... now im gonna go back a bit...
Not that far
LOL
A few weeks before the big night me and my mother picked up the tickets at the big theater ( there is one closer to us thats smaller and cheaper but it had just been sold and is now used as a church!....You gotta admit its a original idea... good acoustics LOL)
Anyway I was speechless as the 4 pieces of paper to change my life landed in my hand.... 3 freshly printed tickets ( and a receipt) to the very first showing of Revenge of the Sith at 12:00:01 May 19th....
I quickly passed them back to my mother as I was not about to lose them..... 6 days before the big release we started a marathon of the movies... starting with the first one made on
A days break inbetween Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Meance due to other buisness... then on the afternoon of the premire we watched "whiny anakin" (as me and me parents joke) in Attack of the clones.
I showed The little silver leg on my fav shiny gold 3PO to my mother to solve a question.... then we left at 10:30 ( I would have left at 9:00 but the parents wouldent budge which i later thanked them for) as we drove through the virtualy empty streets The Force was with me as I practiced mind control on the stoplights which actual seemed to work! We only hit one and technicly did not stop due to it changing before the car hit 0mph... other than that not a single red....
The last of the news crews were pulling out as we arrived (Curses!)
We parked and as we got closer to the doors the closer to a galaxy far far away we got.
A group of T-shirters and a Vader hangin with Chewie stood by the door... As we entered I felt proud to wear my brand new Star wars concept poster T shirt.... JAM PACKED... and here is where I describe how the photo goes hand in hand with the premire....
Two thirds SW and two thirds other..... as my dad stood in line for conncesions I looked around at the melting pot of nerds... every Tshirt made I would bet...a handmade stormtrooper made out of white and black tape on pieces of cardboard (very well done i must say) followed by Boga made in the same fasion... sadly it resembled Godzilla....
and near the doors was a guy in full araibian dress ( tan colored robes... must have been hot) and near the conncesion was a priest in full robes, a woman in a 1900s style purple dress... it felt like a lobby of moviegoers of many denomnations and times...
Once more the place was almost quite.. A low murmer of the crowd broken by a WHOO HOO! or a curse word(no poodoo's the real thing) as some ones foot got stepped on or a paticularly roudy group would bad mouth Jar Jar or Pad'me... I looked at the Snack Bar which was a Island that made the whole area strongly resemble the Mos Eisly Cantina.....
As it got closer midnight the lines began the slow shuffle to the assigned theater ( we were headed to 18) after many moments of cramped hallways and debating if it was the right line we made it.
We got some of the best seats in the house ( this is stadium seating) all the way in the back and in the left corner.. I expected a phenominal roar when the title came up as I had seen in a clip of a Phantom opening...
But the crowd was silent save for the occasional laugh... only movement was when a female wookie removed her mask (I felt really sorry for her near the end)
Some Bantha Brain decided NOT to turn on the air conditioning so being in a room packed with 200+ excited nerds watching two best friends fight on a lava planet was not pleasent...
There was applause at the end. But the pull of the Force was not that strong... only a group of 10 or 15 people stayed for the entire credits...
As we drove home I reviewed the movie with my parents.. As I shuffled in the car I felt something in my pocket..
I reached in and pulled out my favorite C-3PO in my collection had been to the entire premire in my pocket... felt like a movie moment... now my little buddys got his own little area on my collection
As a added bonus to that night almost 1 year later my only Sister is born on 4/18/2006 (18 is the number of the theater we were in!)
