Exiled Myself to Read Exile
Aaron Allston returns to the Legacy of the Force series with the fourth installment, Exile.

I started off the book growing very disappointed with Jacen as he continues to grow darker and darker. He gives out some nasty orders that make him just infuriating, and if anyone still thinks he's doing the right thing, he is if that thing is Galactic peace, but the means is just getting more and more wrong and everyone seems to be finally catching on.

When Wedge and Jacen meet, and Wedge told Jacen in less direct words that he has gone mad (Wedge used fanatic, so you chose which is more direct :p), I thought Wedge was great and wished he would have said more, but then he probably wouldn't have left the Anakin Solo in one piece.

Aaron Allston must have fun writing this story for the names he gave ships and the humor that's scattered throughout (just don't expect Jacen to say anything semi-funny anymore like he did in the Young Jedi Knights, even if those jokes are considered semi-funny -- I enjoyed some of them). A ship that Lando takes around in this book with Leia and Han (yes, Lando's back and funnier than ever) is called the "Looooooooove Commander," as Lando reminds us each time Control asks for identification and Lando's more than willing to share :). There's also the Breathe My Jets which is the name of a smuggler's ship and I just thought it deserved a nice chuckle.

As for more with the story, Lumiya shows that she is the one entirely responsible for everything. She helps the Corellians break through the blockade by getting two other worlds and their fleets to join, and that break sets off a chain reaction where other worlds align with Corellia and appoint a Supreme Commander of the fleet of the Confederation (very well titled group, much like the Galactic Alliance :p).

Lumiya also sets up a test for Ben, by Jacen's agreement, to see if Ben is good enough and willing enough to become Sith. From my point of view, Ben starts off doing just what the Sith and Jacen would want him to do, but by the time it's over, Ben has started to see reason and not taken everything that Jacen says as automatic truth, even going as far as saying that Jacen could be wrong!!!! Way to go Ben, and since Karen did a great job with Ben in Bloodlines, I'm looking for a repeat in Sacrifcie, a continuation of what Aaron gave Ben.

But there are a few things that do bother me. One is Jaina being the Sword of the Jedi and everyone still trying to put the pieces together. To be honest, that was dealt with in the New Jedi Order, most likely meaning she was to lead the Jedi against the Yuuzhan Vong, but that didn't entirely happen once Jacen returned with Vergere. Whether it came full circle or not, it should just be dropped like so many other visions and nonsense that pops up at times in the Star Wars timeline, but they just reinforced it in Exile, so expect it to come full circle by the end of the series.

Well, there's more that I want to say, but since I just finished it half an hour ago, I still have a little "high" you could say from the ending, and I don't want to give any of it away. I hope everyone takes the time to check Exile out, even though I still like Betrayal the most so far, mainly because of Luke in that book, but Exile isn't to be dismissed. Feel free to comment as well :)
