My Final Understanding of Vader
For quite a long time and up until I read "A Two Edged Sword" in Insider for the third time, I always thougth Vader to be really cruel and quite evil. Of course, he is by Episode 4 or at least I think he is but anyway, after reading that, it started to make me think, The content in there such as "...besides, they were men" or "You will not discard me master" led me to think that Vader was actully quite, helpless and can be described in this qoute, "He
had wondered once, just once, what might have happened if he had not been seduced by Palpatine..."

It appears that Anakin, was just so into that fear of loss that he overlooked
what would happen later. It seems so ironic that to save the one he loved, he turned to the dark side only to kill her later himself.

Another interesting point is after Leakauf flings himself in front of Vader to take the blast of fire, Vader props Lekaufs head up "...not to win his affection as Palpatine might have done but to..." help him. Genuinely. While doing this, Vader is thinking that this is what Kenobi should have done for him when he was the one suffering. Sometimes, I myself wonder, what might have happened if Kenobi took Anakin away and then took care of him. Would Anakin have come back or would have Vader stayed?

I always thought Vader as a cold evil machine but I believe that he at the beginging was still good. When Palpatine asked Lekauf which is Vader's lieutenant why he was so loyal to Vader, he answered, "Because he would never tell his men to do something he himself wouldn't do." You have to admit that Vader was being quite compassionate.

Vader also thought to himself that he wondered which master he was disappointed in most, Palpatine or Kenobi, at first, I couldn't see why he would by mad at Palpatine but I began to see that Palpatine had obviously tricked Anakin into first, killing Padme' and tricked him into doing what Palpatine wanted him to do. Kenobi let him to die on Mustafar.

Yet I still wonder, what would have happened if Kenobi helped Anakin when he was wounded on Mustafar. And now I begin to see that Vader at first, is still a whole man.
