There is the chosen one, Anakin Skywalker. And there is the chosen one, Buffy Summers. The formers prophecy is to bring balance to the force and destroy The Sith, the latters is to kill the vampires, the demons and the forces of evil. Some similiarities, and some differences. But the point of this is not to draw paralles between the two chosen ones, but to show the effect
Star Wars has had on the
Buffyverse.
If you're an avid fan of
Buffy The Vampire Slayer, you know of all the many references the characters have made to the saga. The biggest reference of all, however, was basically an entire season. Each season on
Buffy, there was a new "Big Bad." In season six, the big bad was the Trio. A group of three super-geeks who decide to team up to be super-vilains, and take on the Slayer. Their geekiness, is priceless.
In one episode, they get a black van to tail the Slayer in, they want to remain inconspicuous. Too bad one of them decides to paint a rather authentic looking Death Star mural on one side. And ofcourse they start to argue over where the main exhaust is. But cooler heads prevail and they paint over the mural, to keep on the down-low. Until later on, when the Slayer realizes the van and makes her way towards it, they scramble to get out of there, pushing each other to get in the drivers seat one of them falls onto the horn. Which is ofcourse to the tune of the
Star Wars Main Title. So much for being inconspicuos. There is also ofcourse the episode where Spike needs the help of the Trio and holds their Vintage 1979 Boba Fett figure hostage until they help him. And many many more references.
If you are a fan of the Chosen one Anakin, give the other chosen one, Buffy, a try. Who knows, you might just like it?
