Star Wars Fan Fiction
Allright, who has EVER tried to write a Star Wars story, but either have it end up horribly short, or terribly corny? I, for one, have. One time I tried to write a story about Aayla Secura, on a mission to Hoth to find a certain bounty hunter (Durge), has a close encounter with a Wampa (which was strangly remeniscant of Episode V) kills it and some others that come for a kind of "backup", encounters Durge, kills him, and then goes back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Then I tried one with Shakk Ti, but , apparently, I cant keep the brain juices flowing for that long (two stories). Anyway, comment on this and tell me about your failures, and your successes!:p

Try to write a fan fiction before or after the Clone Wars, because writing one during the clone Wars many conflict w/ the continuity of were that jedi was at the time. I recently wrote a in-universe short story where Darth Vader was my dinner date. I know it sounds cliche, but it ends with Vader being a big jerk.:^O

I'm writing a novel about a Jedi named Poltin. This is how it starts.
~The evening Ossus sky was alight with a radiant fiery blaze from the planet's twin suns' Adega Prime, and Adega Besh. A huge calm lake was spread out like a blanket, stretching nearly as far as the eye could see. The suns rays beamed out across the flat landscape, racing over the water. Smooth as glass, the lake was without the slightest ripple. It projected a splitting image of the sky like a mirror, with small hints of gold and silver blended in with the crimsons and oranges of the heavens.
Tell me if it's good.

poltin, it sounds like you really know how to write. it seems like literature might be your thing. i definitely think you should try to make a nice novel, or short story off of your ideas.

tell me about your failures, and your successes! This could be different for everyone. When it comes to fan-fiction, a success would mean that you have a consistent group of readers that follow your stories. It doesn't matter what period or stage of the saga you tend to write about, as long as it grasps the attention of a loyal fan base. Good Luck, and have fun! Angel

Making a novel Always excellent to expand one's horizons. Though if you choose to write and wish to be published, don't count on having your fan-fiction becoming a novel. Anything Star Wars is completely locked down, and is untouchable. Authorization for such publications, is only provided by the man himself and of course Lucas arts etc. According to certain info. his Companies only affiliate with well known novelists and publishing companies. Basically, they pick " who will write it, and WHAT it will entail, and HOW many will be issued in a year. " Hey, unfortunately...that's the way the wookie cookie crumbles.

I have never tried to write it but i have enough ideas to make 5 or 6 real long books that take place after all the New Jedi order books and all tie ins.

The thing is, to keep writing.

I have a short novel (non-Star Wars) that has been bouncing around on paper for the last six years, during that time I have written a dozen full-length screenplays and a slew of short fan-fics (LotR and SW), but I dip back into the novel now and then.

One of the secrets to decent fiction is rhythm - what is the nature of your story?
If it is a bounty hunter-based tale, then I would guess you are aiming to write an action adventure story - for this reason, consider the pace.
Re-read your work all the time and ask yourself 'what information am I giving to my reader?'

If you have used 8 words to describe something, cut 5 of them out, get to the point, make your writing as frenetic as the action on the page.

I find employing a discipline helps when I'm writing (a script or novel).

Plan everything, write a timeline, consider your beginning, middle and end, write back stories for your antagonist and protagonist, what are the goals? What are the obstacles? Get as much as you can in a notebook before you even write the first the first word of your story - trust me - you'll know your story so well that it will just flood out, and you'll have room for the fun stuff (like creating species and technology).

Good luck with it!

I have started a series of books, not Star Wars but about space battle and a lot of stuff like Star Wars. I'm going to write 9 books each 20 pages long. Right now I'm at the beginning of the sixth.

May the Force be with us all! God bless!

Eh, I write anything and everything. Right now fan fiction, but I am starting to write some of my own stuff. My friends say I am pretty good, but I don't think I am.....And the rest of the fan fiction community I write for.....But I digress....It takes time to write a story or a poem and needs constant updating and editing. If you don't like something, edit it out or add something in. Keep going over it until it is the way you like it. Be a perfectionist! Also enrich your vocabulary. Don't use words like "good", "bad", or any slang, unless the story calls for it. Well that's my advice. Good luck!

I have a story about a few Jedi Knights who battle in the great Sith War - around 1000 years before Episode 1. With a well known PT character in it. ;)

I have it all racing around in my head - along with a non-star wars story. The hardest thing for me is actually writing it, trying to make it an enjoyable read. But when I get spare time - I try and write a small part of it. Hopefully one day, it will be complete!

Good luck with your quest DarthMonkey!

Other than my comedy sketches (which can be seen on this site easily enough) it has been a LONG time since I attempted to write fan fiction. I remember a story in High School based on something that happened to me. It was about Han Solo returning his library book that was overdue and the librarian (a droid of course) tells him he will have to serve detention for over due book. Han says: "I'm not gonna SERVE the detention, that's why I returned the BOOK."

It was a true story, except my name is not Han and, while my librarian was cold and calculating she was not an actual robot.

I write whatever random idea pops into my head--Star Wars stuff, weird alterniverses, blah blah blah. But usually--and I know you're gonna think me deeply warped and evil--someone ends up either dying or getting tortured, and I have to try to lighten it up. One such tale actually involves a character being turned into orange goo--There aren't any Gungans in there, though. However...

I'm on the competition writing team at school, and it's amazing how bland stuff gets when you can't put in "far-fetched" stuff like magic and the Force. What's the point of writing if you can't do something really creative?!!! Let's all write about school, who likes whom, and all that other crud! What fun! AAGH!
