So start a blog, they suggest. Well, I haven't been on Starwars.com since about September of last year beyond the scratchy limits of Hyperspace; I know that sounds kind of contradicting. True, I checked the Episode III page as religiously as I had for over a year and a half, but the fandom contained within the Community section had scared me off quite abruptly that summer of '04. Before that, I delighted in the message boards and such, but came to somewhat of a spoiler epiphany, if you will. "These posters seem to know quite a bit about this original trilogy DVD set coming out," I said, in retrospect now sounding so naive. "Surely they can't be right about all of this??"
Alas, when that wonderful September day came and I unwrapped the glittering silver glory that is Star Wars on DVD, I found those fears were not so unfounded.
They were right.
Luke! You were right about me...
I naturally convinced myself that if average citizens like myself with nothing more than a computer and an Internet connection could find out so much bloody
accurate information on that corner of Star Wars, I'd better stay the heck away from what they had to say about Episode III. Well, with the exception of what the main site decides to tell me up to the premiere last week, I stayed away. Thankfully, I'm glad I did, but I suppose one could call this blog my "triumphant" return to Starwars.com.
So what in the blazes does this all mean? To make a blog, Starwars.com tells me, I have to name it.
Name it?
What the heck do I name a blog? Several Star Wars-themed ideas came to my devious little brain:
You don't know the power of the blog side;
It's not disrespect master, it's a blog; and for some reason
Blogabout seemed like a good idea, even if it's not Star Wars.
Then I turned to my little green friend:
Ah, he would not approve of stupid names for my blog. In fact, I am of the mind that blogs do not improve or disprove the status of any upstanding members of society. Thusly,
Blogs Not Make One Great.
...
Besides, once I had to name the virtual folder that would contain all my useless banter that you just spat through, it became apparent why that name was necessary: you are now at "blogs.starwars.com/
blogsnot."
Oh, the fit of giggles.
