 | Happiness is a Warm Lightsaber |
My stepson's name is Michael. He is nine years old and he is autistic. If you don't already know, autism affects the way information is interpreted by the brain. Michael is very bright and very understanding, but things are just "Bigger" to him. That's the best way I can explain it.
He is a Star Wars fan. He asks his teachers to call him Michael Skywalker and writes his name as Michael Skywalker. Star Wars is the most Wonderful thing in life to him.
Needless to say, he is extremely excited about tomorrow's festivities. May 19th is burned into his whole consciousness. There is nothing before or after May 19th. And tomorrow, nothing else will matter or even exist to him other than our local movie theater and Star Wars: Episode 3. I feel sorry for his teachers, for their subsequent dreams will consist of Michael chanting over and over again "Star Wars: Episode 3. May 19th, 2005. 9:30 pm. Yes."
I'm pretty geeked out about it to, but I cannot wait to see him at the movie theatre tomorrow. I know it's just a movie to most people. For Michael, however, tomorrow truely will be the best of all possible worlds.
