In my personal opinion, i think that there is a strong connection between napoleon and palpatine. Now, aside from palp being a sith and etc. there are many similaritties between the rulers. For instance, the battle of waterloo, 1815 was kinda like the attack on the death star in ROTJ. the empires were both undergoing reconstruction and yet they were caught off guard and destroyed. SEcondly, the two fleets were similar. Napoleans being the biggest and baddest around, as was palpy's. Thirdly, when Napolean went into Russian during the winter in i believe 1812? He didn't expect the winter conditions to be so harsh and he was ill supllied and ill prepared, casuing a full retreat. This gave a great advantage to the russian monarchy at the time. The same is true for the Empire's fleet when they began to take control over the republic. But they underestimated the power of the rebellion , causing a crushing defeat at the battle of yavin. And finally, Both were thrown out of power, and were killed. Now, there is much speculatio on how Napolean did, but the auhtopsy sp? revelaed signs of him being poisoned. OF course we know that palpy was killed by darth Vader, his succesor, but Vader was killed by his son luke. So there, theres my comparison between two rulers of far distant galaxies
