First day on the job

June 9, 2006

So there I was, just browsing the forums like I usually do. It was about 6 pm, so I was just relaxing after a long day's work.

I mean, it was a Friday night, so what else was I going to do

?

Anywho, I clicked on one of the forums, Forum Feedback, I believe and entered one of the threads. All of a sudden, wierd icons appeared.

Upon closer inspection, they appeared to be mod tools...you know, the "lock", "ban", "delete", "destroy", and "hijack screenname" buttons.

Having anticipated my mod-ship for a few weeks, I quickly checked my email to see an email from Bonnie (bonniegrrl) confirming my mod status. I quickly replied, making my Smurf-status official.

I, along with Darth Vader, Captain Yossarian, The Broox, Hazme, and Kermit, received a warm welcome from fellow Smurfs into Smurfland.

I browsed around, excercised my new lock button, posted some redirects and answered some Forum Feedback posts. No bans....yet.

Oh, and less than 24 hours on the job, I received my first hatemail

After having two of my blog entries blocked for content(I hadn'r read the rules at that time) I decided to read the rules and obligations of the contract. Good luck on the job "your gonna need it".

I was suprised to see my former comrades in troublemaking turn blue. Ah! As the message boards burn, so do the days of our lives.

Blue does wonders for your skin tone, but Vader looks much better in red.

Will someone get Yossarian to actually make a blog entry! Take on some of his workload if neccessary!

Congratulations! This is the first new batch of mods in....a long time, no? Since close to the beginning even?

In regards to what the hate-mailer said, I think it might be good for people to know that being a moderator here is not a job in the sense that they are being paid. That's right, all our friendly mods are volunteers! Bravo, mods! And thank you for the good work you do.

Wow, I wish a day like that will come to me, but I need a little, no, a lot more work on "Mini-Modding"(Spell Check?) and then I'd get hate mails and everyone would hate me. Over 3 years since there were new mods around here as Tu�gon points out. So short answer, No. Not at the moment, but maybe in 4-5 years.
