The Darkness chat about Star Wars
Next up in my ongoing Star Wars Rocks series of interviews on starwars.com with bands and celebs who adore the saga is one of the coolest new bands to come out of the UK for awhile -- The Darkness.

Known for their outrageous stage performances and an impressive retro hard rock wardrobe only Spinal Tap fans could appreciate, The Darkness -- consisting of band members Justin Hawkins (lead vocals/guitars/keyboards), Dan Hawkins (guitar), Ed Graham (drummer) and Richie Edwards (bass) -- have a huge soft spot for all things Star Wars, and have the pinball machine in their studio to prove it.

"I had Boba Fett with Han Solo frozen in carbonite," Hawkins says of his collection. "My dad often referred to Han as the 'frozen ham sandwich.' I also have the Millennium Falcon, bumper TIE fighter set, Yoda's cave on Dagobah (all LEGO), a nodding Darth Vader for back of car and my most prized item -- a 1992 Data East Star Wars pinball machine bought from eBay for a cool £1,000! I'm half-way through the X-wing. The non-symmetrical Millennium Falcon was a challenge, but the TIE fighters and X-wings, not so much."

Here's the full interview:

Hi BonnieGrrl!

it's easy to picture the British rockers from The Darkness feeling right at home in the Cantina.

True! Another group I could easily picture in the Cantina are the guys from Slipknot. My nephew likes them and I had emailed him the story of their SW fandom. My nephew thinks I'm a geek but that's okay. I guess the lead singer of Slipknot is a geek he still manages to love as well. :x

I didn't know Spinal Tap were fans as well... now that's from my day!

PS: The picture you have there... it's from Franz Ferdinan's video... I have that song as my ring tone. It's the closest thing to SW my phone offers. :)

I was wondering bonniegrrl how old are you? I picture you this 60 year old lady with gray hair. Since that is what your Avatar is. That's not really what you look like is it?????:|

That avatar is BEA ARTHUR from the Star Wars Holiday Special!

Well being an admin here and on the message boards is only a tiny part of my job for Lucasfilm. I write many of the articles you read on starwars.com -- all the articles and crafts on the kids section, a lot of the Insider Online supplements (not to mention the Best of Hyperspace section for the Insider magazine, ALL the Star Wars Rocks interviews, most of the Ep. III profiles, and much of the content on IndianaJones.com. We just don't have bylines on the site...

Yeah, why is that? I've always thought it'd be cool if you did.
