Nine Inch Nails: Beside Vader in Time
Check out my interview with Nine Inch Nails bassist Jeordie White as he chats about his Star Wars toy collection, fond childhood memories dressing up as Darth Vader and C-3PO and his appreciation for the saga as a whole. He really is a hardcore fan so it's fun to read his quotes about his collection and hanging out with ILMers.

Article snippet:
Getting his collectibles autographed also produced a few lasting memories. "My funniest Star Wars moment would be meeting Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill when I was 19 at the opening of Star Tours at MGM in Orlando, Florida. I had brought my Princess Leia slave outfit Return of the Jedi action figure in the box and I had her sign it. She said that I was 'sick.'"

White also recalls many a childhood Halloween spent dressing as a Sith Lord or a droid, or in one case, both. "I remember being Darth Vader and C-3PO a couple of times," White smiles. "When I was C-3PO I had the mask and I covered myself in aluminum foil and then someone showed up to my Halloween party dressed exactly the same. I also had a Darth Vader mask, so I ran and put that on -- becoming Darth 3PO. Just like the LEGO Star Wars video game."

Oh. My. God.

Bonnie, thank you soooo much! I always wanted someone from NIN on here after hearing Trent Reznor himself liked ROTS. He said so on the official site. I have always wanted to check out NIN, they are a group (well, just Trent in the studio) that has always interested me. The whole hype around the soon to be released album Year Zero has just spurned me into action to start listening to them. I purchased my first NIN album, 2005's With Teeth, on Sunday. I thought it would be a good starting point until I get into more abstract stuff like The Fragile and the now-classic The Downward Spiral, and the rougher earlier stuff.

I haven't even read the article yet! I just saw it and immediately had to thank you. It's funny because I was even going to write a blog about the current viral marketing thing they are using to promote the next album. The websites detail a totalitarian America of 15 years in the future. It's been a recent obsession of mine, and finally led to to check them out.

Plus, I was already familiar with Mr. White from his gig in A Perfect Circle. I love love LOVE that band and Tool, Maynards main band.

Now if you can only get an interview with Mr. Reznor himself...:D

This was an interesting interview. It's fascinating how many creative people from very different art forms were impacted by Star Wars.

Bonnie - You really do have the coolest job ever! Well, George Lucas has a pretty cool job I suppose, but yours comes very close. :D

Jeordie is an incredible bassist! Just finished watching Beside You in Time earlier this evening. Great interview, Bonnie!

I wonder if he likes Star Wars art too? :)

Well, he mentioned that he wished Aurra Sing was further explored. Maybe Bonnie should have reccomended the comics to him. The post-TPM comics explore her quite a bit.;)

You should check out this great article about how NIN "leaked" the new recording using hidden messages on shirts and USB drives: "Year Zero" Project = Way Cooler Than "Lost"

And trust me -- I'm working on getting the Trent interview if it's the last thing I do! ;)
