Klingon for Parliament
Politicians are always trying to tap into a new voting pool, but this might be taking it a step further than most. According to Yahoo News, "A Finnish member of parliament is aiming for re-election by campaigning with a translation of his Web site into Klingon."

"Some have thought it is blasphemy to mix politics and Klingon," said Jyrki Kasvi, an ardent Trekkie. "Others say it is good if politicians can laugh at themselves."

Non-Klingons can access the site here:
http://www.kasvi.org, in English, Swedish and Finnish.

No word on whether he'll translate his site for Ewoks and Wookiees as well.

If the site was in Bocce, I'd consider changing citizenship. ;

Would I vote for him? Maybe, but not based on the Klingon.

I will say, though, if a politician did this in the US, at the very least it would do two things:

1) it would make me at least LOOK at the site and

2) as stated, it would make me happy to see a politician who acts like a normal person (though normal to this group may not mean the same thing to other folks out there ;) )

So, I guess in summary, I'd have to say 'it can't hurt.'

If I were a politician, I would not hide any of my Star Wars feelings. I'd most likely hit the cons and campaign a bit, but not enough to hinder my own enjoyment of the con. You'd see me with something Star Wars related in every interview or press conference. There would be Star Wars items in my office. I would answer around questions dealing with Jedi or Sith preferences. :)

Hey Grrl,

What on gods green earth made you even want to mention Star Trek on the Star Wars website?

Thanks, my eyes are bleeding now.

If it were in Aurebesh, I might consider giving my vote. But then again, I'm not Finnish.
