While I'm always knee-deep in
Star Wars Craft Projects for the starwars.com, I have to say that my first love is
papercrafting. It's easy, fun and all you need is a printout of a paper pattern and a gluestick!
I never got the hang of origami. All of my animals looked like waded up pieces of colored paper. I even tried my best to master
Star Wars Origami, but I just don't have the patience to learn that delicate art skill.
However with papercraft projects, you just tape or glue tabs of paper to make really fun robots, castles, animals and more! While some are simple to make in a matter of minutes, others are a bit more complicated (
Transfromers models,
Howl's Moving Castle, etc) but still rewarding and doable.
So when we were thinking of our next
Star Wars Craft Project, the idea of the R2-D2 Mailboxes bounced around in our brains. And thus, thanks to the folks at the US Postal Service -- the
R2-D2 Mailbox Papercraft came about.
I had a lot of fun making ours that you see on starwars.com, plus it was made in under 15 minutes. So if time is of the essence for you, this is the craft you'll want to try!
And once you're finished making your R2-D2 mailbox have fun putting it in your
Star Wars dioramas, or take photos using it with your
Star Wars action figures.
I've posted a few already on a few Flickr groups like
Star Wars Toys and
Star Wars as well as
R2-D2 Mailboxes Across America!
So
show us what you do with yours!
