Let's get one thing straight -- I'm not 16. Not even close. But I watch the same shows, read the same magazines and listen to the same music as most 16-year-old girls out there. That's just how I am.
So this means, by default, that I'm a huge fan of teen drama "The O.C."
What I didn't realized was that my love for over-the-top teen soap operas and my love for
Star Wars would crash head first into each other while I started work here at Lucasfilm.
When we first tossed the idea around of having the trailer debut during an episode of "The O.C." I couldn't be happier. Most people who never watch the show had no idea that the show's creator -- Josh Schwartz -- is a huge
Star Wars fan -- and it shows in his writing as
various characters throughout the show either quote the film or refer to it. Heck, even
Seth Cohen (one of the main characters) tries to pick up the phone using his Jedi powers.... unsuccessfully of course as you can witness in this video clip.
So I wrote about it on starwars.com.
A LOT. I was even asked to stop overusing the word "adorkable" in all my articles on starwars.com.
And when Seth played with Episode III action figures and
donned the Vader helmet --
during our trailer introduction as you can see in this video clip -- I swore teen girls everywhere had an urge to kiss their television.
But that didn't stop there. Soon George was asked to have a cameo on the show as -- well --
himself as you can hear about his experiences on the set here in this video clip.
I also interviewed Schwartz about George's appearance on "The O.C." and he he had nothing but praise as
you can read here.
However since all our ties with "The O.C." are coming to an end with the release of the
Revenge of the Sith movie and video game... I can't help but feel sad. If I had my way, I would have had George stay on as a permanent member of the cast -- couldn't you see Julie Cooper dating him next?
Well, at least for a little awhile, the hipster set on "The O.C." were more Force-sensitive than usual.
