Portrait of Rod Stewart as a Clone Trooper
I'm a big fan of Star Wars mash-ups that mix characters from the films involved in the weirdest situations. So when I can across Brandon Bird's art, I had to find out more!

Artist Brandon Bird is the kind of artist who I would ask to paint huge murals in my house -- if I had a house. Best known for his Law & Order Coloring Book (which was sold a couple of year back at APE), his art occasionally pop ups in the oddest of places.

In fact, the last page of the June/July 2005 issue of The Believer magazine has his portraits in it including an amusing drawing of Russell Crowe as a Jedi Master, and Dan Aykroyd break dancing.

He's got some great Star Wars-themed art here:
Man of Tomorrow
Husky Ne'er-do-well
Jedi Masters
I Like Ewoks
Flutter Maul

He's also got some spectacular art that has nothing to do with Star Wars at all -- like the following masterpieces:
Bea Arthur wrestling dinosaurs
Jack the DA from "Law and Order" playing with Transformers
Christopher Walken building a robot in his garage
Abe Lincoln cage fighting

Be sure to check out his work!

Quite interesting art. However, some of those pieces not related to Star Wars do have Star Wars connections. Clearly you are aware of Bea Arthur's connection, and the robot Christopher Walken is building looks suspiciously like C-3PO. At least, the undercarriage of the robot is very similar. Anyway, very interesting art. Keep up the great work on the website.

Yeah I'm well aware of the Bea Arthur connection (check out my avatar!) and of course, there's the wild rumor that Christopher Walken tried out for Han Solo's part, which isn't true.

Haha, it's funny to see this becuase my brother showed me Brandon's website maybe like a year ago and I just remembered about it recently when he metioned it again. I'm a huge fan of his work, mostly just the idea of his work. Seriously, he's proabaly the only guy in America who would have the imagination and creative talent to draw Jerry Seinfeld feeding a Giraffe(sp) some part of a plant...

Anyone else exploring the site make sure you go to exhibits and click on the Letters to Walken...hilarious...

That's some pretty cool stuff. :)

There's been a couple of funny 'mash-ups' lately in some of the comics I read:

A little background on the Userfiendly strip -- Erwin is an AI that is continuously being moved to various types of hardware. Everytime he'smoved into something new, hilarity ensues. :)
