That's No Space Station -- That's the Death Star!
Is it just me or are the self portraits taken by the NASA astronauts look a lot like the Death Star is lurking behind them?

Space Shuttle crew member Steve Robinson took a few photos of himself posing in space, and I have to admit that I was humming the Imperial Theme Song when I saw it.

Take a look here.

Even cooler high-res image here.

It's not just you I see it to. BTW Cool pics! That is a great picture of the astronaut that toke of himself and you can see the tiles that are on the shuttle. It does look like the death Star because of the color, and its half sphere look that is shown on his helmet. Also, I like the picture that shows the view of the earth. I always love pictures that show the view of the earth from above.

that is cool but if it was really the death star then we would be doomed and we dont have any x-wing fighters to defend us.

What sowrdweilder said.

To start, even if Lucas' had a rocket or an Imperial Shuttle, the Death Star can't become realized. What year and what STS mission was that? I could figure the shuttle's orbiter name with some assistance bonniegirl.

Ya, it has a look and feel to the 2nd Death Star. Now maybe NASA will look at using Lucas' tech designers and have them build a shuttle that WON'T fall apart. They seem to stay in one piece in the movies, unless they're shot at. :p

I think its more a credit to the modelmakers on the original trilogy, that their spaceships show similar wear and weathering that is evident on the real deal. Especially considering that the first film was released 4 years before the first reusable spacecraft, the shuttle columbiawas launched.

Recovered from the holocam of Spacetrooper TK-138: "Hi, Mom! Here I am at my new post! Don't worry; this Death Star is much safer than the last one."

That is really creepy. Good find!
