He's not acting maliciously, but my 5 year old has tremendous potential for destroying Star Wars collectibles I've cherished for decades. Is it my fault for inviting him to play with my vintage items in the first place?

For Halloween 1979, I suited up in a handmade Boba Fett costume ... 7 months before the release of "The Empire Strikes Back". My triumphant evening of trick or treating didn't go exactly as planned.

I'm often the one patting myself on the back for bringing Star Wars into my child's life, but I've been overlooking the fact that my son has introduced ME to some elements of Star Wars that I'd never have had encountered on my own.

This past Saturday, my family trekked to an event at a local toy store surrounding the release of the new book "Lego Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary". We had no idea how much kid-tastic fun we were in for!

Does the promise of a Fan Club envelope full of free Star Wars stuff have the same effect on an impressionable young fan-in-training as it did for me back in in my Bantha Tracks days? I recruited my son to find out.

My son recently exclaimed, "Daddy, you know everything about Star Wars!" Not true of course, but there was a period when I knew almost too much about Star Wars. This was the summer of 1999 when I co-wrote Star Wars Episode I Trivial Pursuit.
