I've been fortunate enough to design all the characters for the new KOTOR comic book. It's tough coming out with new designs that people will be wowed by and yet still familiar enought to them that it looks like it belongs in the Star Wars world. So far our "break out" character has got to be the devious little Snivvian, Gryph. He is short and chubby and is a blast to draw. Anyhow, when we first started the project a while back, Gryph was originally supposed to be an Ortolan. We had some trouble with that-- it was tough getting expressions out of him because of that mini elephant trunk. So we tried some Snivvian designs and it stuck.
