Hello,
I'm terribly busy at the moment, and nearly fell behind on the ol' Dork Sides - but they are such a great procrastination tool.
The day I start procrastinating over drawing
them is the day I get worried.
Anyhoo, here is
Turning to the Dork Side # 17, for your edification.
On to other fun stuff.
A little while ago,
Slow, over on the Geeks Helping Geeks site, suggested our own version of a collector card set, and much hilarity has ensued.
I thought it would be fun to make some of my own sketch cards, and here they are...
The focus for this mini set is eyes - them being windows to the soul and all that gumph.
The first card I made was
PALPATINE - he is partially in shadow, but the one eye you can see is staring back with aloof arrogance - you are nothing to him but a pawn.
Then I made
TARKIN - he was a man, not a robot, and I wanted to convey a moment when his steel mask slipped, 'I've just destroyed a
planet'.
VADER was tricky, how do you show the eyes behind the mask? Instead I plumped for a kinetic and angry image, lavishing the red of passionate fury all over him.
Then I drew
KENOBI - this is the final second before he is cut down. I have put a twinkle in his eye and given him a wry grin, he knows this isn't the end for him.
Finally, I had a go at
SOLO - I just wanted to get that look of despair he so often has when something isn't going quite right, or the
Falcon is playing up.
There you go - have a lovely week.
Ta ta!
