Well, I'm pooped.
The Cinequest Film Festival down here in San Jose is drawing to a close tonight with the premiere of a new film called
Take, starring Minnie Driver. I've got some more films to see and more folks to interview before then, so I'm out the door in a second - just time to fill the blog void
So far, over the last week or so, I've watched 25 features and 54 shorts. Most of them were excellent, which is rare for such a diverse collection.
I attended a couple of seminars, met Michael Arndt (he wrote
Little Miss Sunshine), and listened to Michael Keaton and Danny Glover talk about their careers.
I love it, but I always get a little blue when the festival comes to an end.
Of the 25 features I watched, hands down the best films were all from other countries;
Konyec from Hungary,
Bitter Sweetheart from Sweden,
The Substitute from Sweden,
Amal from Canada/India,
The Aerial from Argentina,
The Case from China,
AFR from Denmark... the list goes on.
There were a couple of stand out US entries though - both comedies - one called
Young People F**king (and no, the asterisks were not on the posters) and
Sherman's Way, which was a fun 'odd couple' movie. Look out for these in the future - I think they got picked up for distribution.
If you would like to take a look at my first few entries for the review website I write for, here they are.

The first weekend
I should have about another four blogs coming in the near future - you can look out for them
here if you are interested!!
Oh, and hansgirl,
Bunnyheads was barking mad - quite amazing to watch, but barking mad all the same.
So, because I have a late night tonight, Dork Side might be a day late - sorry, blame it on daylight savings.
Cheerio for now!!
