The Aftermath
Hello all,

Thank you for your comments of love and support for L and her family last week following my last blog - I passed each and every one onto them, and they called me to say how much is was appreciated. They were quite amazed at the responses, so thanks again.

L's grandma, Pam (some of you might have met her too last year at C IV) sent me some updates and said I could share them with you.

L is recovering. The girls are still in jail. They are in isolation which means they can't go out and exercise or be with the other kids. There will be another hearing May 11th. The judge will determine then what he will do with them.
Because they kicked her in the head with their shoes on it is considered a felony. Her father has got a restraining order against them so that they can't return to school.
Travis is an innocent victim in all of this. He has become very disturbed and upset with what has happened to his sister. Starting last Thursday he began receiving counseling at school.
This (Monday) morning, L went back to school. She was determined to go back. There was a big meeting with people from the school board, school officials and L's mom, plus a counselor. L's mom reached out to an advocate who is also an attorney because the school hadn't contacted her at all and no plans were in place for L's return.

The latest info I have is that L now has a couple of folks at the school surreptitiously guarding her, and interestingly, the principal of the school had no idea until today that any of this had happened! It appears the vice-principal knew something might happen last Monday but didn't act on it, and subsequently tried to keep the big boss out of it - oh dear. Somebody's going to be paying big time...

Turning to the Dork Side will be a little late this week, sorry. I got terribly busy this weekend making a puppet for a short I am filming this summer - here he is (looks familiar? I can't see it :))

DS will turn up very soon.

Have a great week, y'all.

Good to hear she is recovering. Though I am worried about what will become of Travis.

Good.

That's great. Hopefully the counseling will help.

She was determined to go back.
Good for her! She's got spirit!

Good for her. If she goes through the rest of her life with that never give up spirit nobody can bring her down. Tell her and Travis that they are in our prayers.

Awesome! It would have been fine if she needed the time, but it shows a lot of strength to move forward, and I think that is a big step in that direction! :)

Thanks for the update!

The vice-principal was suspicious and did NOTHING.
The pricipal was not told until last night.

I hate to say it but that does not supprise me. Administraters are soooo
afraid of retaliation by parents the refuse to intervine until and unless the
law makers tell them they must.

"L" went back to school. Brovo!! She's a far better person than the rest of the bunch.
((( hugs to you all )))

Good.

That must be awful. :( The judge should take his pain into consideration too.

Glad to hear things are improving for L and that hopefully justice will prevail in all of this. I sincerely hope Travis will be doing ok soon, too.

Looking forward to another DS as well!

I hope L is okay in all of this, one thing for certain is some innocence is gone for good unfortunately. That is the real tragedy of this.

As for the Dorkside, can't wait Sir El Nobbo.

Thanks for the somewhat good news. I'm glad Travis is getting some counseling & I hope the determined L will do so as well. Goodness knows what sort of an impact this could have on the rest of their lives...which is why I'm also glad to hear that the girls are being harshly punished and the school community is now (finally) aware.

I hope L knows that her strength will probably save other girls in the future...

I'm glad to hear they're both heading in the right direction and I hope things continue to improve for them. I have thought of this when time allows, and have sent my thoughts their way.

Thanks for the update.

oh nobby, I absolutely love love LOVE your puppet. He does bear a striking resemblance to . . . hmmmm, I just can't put my finger on it . . . ;) I see a whole new career for you. :)

On a serious note, I am so happy that L intends to persevere and not let what happened to her stop her from getting on with her life. That speaks volumes of the youngster's fortitude. I am sad, although not surprised, to hear how Travis is taking this. I hope he'll be okay in no time.

I am stunned - absolutely stunned! - that the vp did absolutely nothing when she got wind of even the possibility of the attack. She should NOT be in education!!! I hope she loses her job. Harsh, I know, but fitting (IMO).

Hi,
just a quick note to pass on my best wishes to L, Travis and Family.
I know how traumatic the whole exprience can be, as my own daughter was assaulted by a classmate, ( in school ) just under 2 years ago, and because of the "inclusive policy" prevalent in so many schools here in the UK her attacker wasn't even expelled but merely suspended for 5 days.

She was determined to go back.

This is a good sign as it shows that she has the character to get through this. Once again I wish her a speedy recovery and hope that they can all put this behind them and move on with their lives.
