On Friday evening the 36th Annual Annie Award ceremony took place - think of it as the animation equivalent of the Oscars.
As a member of ASIFA Hollywood, I got to vote on the nominations (it took 7 hours as you have to watch all the clips - LOL), and I was happy to see that many of my choices received the top honors.
I was sad to see Ben Burtt lose out for voice acting (in WALL-E), but there were some other significant Star Wars winners interspersed between the massive haul of awards (10) that Kung Fu Panda took for the night.
Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II took home the statue for best animated TV production and they also won for writing in an animated TV production. Unfortunately, Kevin Kiner missed out on the gong for best music for an animated TV production (for Clone Wars) - however, Ahmed Best won for best voice acting (again, for Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II, for the excellent 'Gecko' commercial).
On a side note, I was delighted to see Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs take home the award for best animated home entertainment production - awesome!
Fingers crossed for Ben and Matthew for sound design when the Oscars roll around!
Later, kids.
