StarHyke
Hello Everyone!

Once again, thanks for all the comments left on my previous blog. I'm overwhelmed by your kindness and by the interest that has been shown in StarHyke. I thought I'd take the opportunity here to tell you a bit more about this sci-fi comedy series.

The project was completed two years ago on a very tight budget. We had a couple of weeks' rehearsal, and then we filmed six episodes straight off, working long hours to ensure that the series was finished by a specific date. Given the scarce funds, I was amazed by how well the sets were constructed, particularly the space ship. Cast members also helped out with the painting, reflecting the fact that it needed a strong commitment from everybody involved to make the whole thing work. There was no room for anybody to act the prima donna, and the odd complaint that did arise was swiftly greeted with a shrug of the shoulders to say 'get on with it!' I do remember that the set was very cold, and so we welcomed any breaks as a chance to thaw out.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing the the part of Dr Striker. He's the kind of chap who must have been well respected professionally in the past, but who now you would crawl off your deathbed to avoid being treated by.

The reason why two trailers have now been posted at Google and YouTube is that there has recently been some interest in StarHyke from a TV company. So this is a way of estimating potential interest in the series. People still have two and a half weeks to view the trailers and add their comments.

The film and television industry has always been an uncertain business, and never more so than today. So nobody really knows whether all that work will come to fruition or not. Once again, on behalf of the StarHyke team I thank all of you who have registered a hit, and encourage those that haven't yet to take a quick look.

For those who wish to know more about the series, you can visit the StarHyke website at http://www.starhyke.com.

I think it sort of looks like a comedy version of Star Trek. I really want to see a full episode!

And if you didn't see my comment on your last entry, do you plan on coming to america to promote the show?

I viewed the trailers at the StarHyke site before, but clicked on all your links above so the hits get counted. I'll hit them again when I'm on another computer ;)

Looks great, and I really hope it gets picked up - and hopefully in the USA too! We could really use a good space-laugh at this point :D

Have you ever asked them to change something in the script and, when they wouldn't do it, said "I was Boba Fett, damn it!". That would be awesome. B-)

The only reason I would be in America to promote the show was if a TV company bought the series. As we're still looking for a buyer, I'm afraid we're some way from that stage at present. But I appreciate the encouragement and efforts from fans here!

All the best

OK, watched musical trailer 2 and posted loving comment :)

I hope this gets picked up and allowed to run for a decent length (not prematurely killed like every other decent show these days...)

I'm not a huge fan of that song though - it really doesn't fit the implied content of the show, tell me it's not the real theme tune...

Good luck with it all!

This is like the seventh time I've watched all these trailers since you talked about StarHyke on your last blog:D I can't wait for a this show to get picked up and I really hope it comes to the US. My Uncle introduced me to British T.V. this summer when he showed me a televison show called "Spaced" I'm not sure if any of you are familar with it but it's an awesome show. Once again I hope this show comes to the US as well and good luck.

I've left comments on Google and YouTube. I hope it helps.

Hm... Interesting.

The second version of the trailer far outshines the original. The original seems like a tribute video to a series already being broadcast or long over, since those run rampent on YouTube :)

Hey! Thanks for being here. I read about StarHyke not too long ago and had added it to your credits. Looks like good fun!

I had no idea you were over here until today...nice surprise.

Quickie question:

Which character(s) did you play on Doctors? I'd like to add that as well.

Thank you.

I can see you're all trying your hardest for StarHyke - thanks once again. On Oct 20-22 I'll be at Cult TV (Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, UK) where they're showing the first episode of StarHyke as a sort of world premiere.

In 'Doctors' I played Victor Hendon, an antiques dealer who shared his business with Colin Baker who I'm sure you know as one of the Doctor Whos.

As far as my book is concerned, I take some to all the conventions, but it is also available through my website:
