To be fair, the reason my las blog was called Clone Wars is Sets of Six had nothing to do with 6 movies or any such thing, it was a typo. 'Is' should be 'In'. And the only reason I went with six is that is when I could post an entry.
So , I have some time now, and I will review Coruscant Nights II and the latest 4 episodes.
First the book. Better than I. Up to a 2% on the milk scale. I'm still not sure I care about the characters, but I was at least entertained. Good use of Typho, although weak to make him in love with Padme from afar (apologies to Michael Reaves if that story line did not originate with him). Good random use of Aurra Sing, for the record I'm calling she's not dead (more apologies if that is well established elsewhere in the EU).
One last thought, one last feeling I can't shake. The book is plagued by a gratuitous use of obscure species, some I'm sure have been created on the spot. I get it, Coruscant is pretty diverse, and a seedy place that might be fun to visit during daylight if only to go slumming.
Now, the TV:
The boyos are still into it. The Galactic Heroes for Christmas helped. Of course, Han for the 2 year old, R2 for the older one. As for the episodes, Bombad Jedi: not bad. I can handle Jar Jar, and the artwork was fantastic. One EU thought: I thought Rodians, because of the nature of Rodia were pretty hard core hunters. Or am I just making that up? Either way, I did not get that impression about Rodia from this episode.
Cloak of Darkness: Just what I had been hoping for, some 'fringe' characters and Ventress wins. Finally. Not that I want to see her win, but it was getting to the point that I couldn't figure out why she's such a big deal to the Jedi. She seemed (and still does a bit) completely incompetent.
Liar of Grievous: More of what I had been hoping for! If only I could have seen it. I mean, I watched it, but WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE TURN ON THE LIGHTS!! Honestly, the artwork was so dark, I had trouble making anything out. I like a little mystery to be sure, but its a TV show, not a radio program. Rookies had the same problem, and Dooku Captured was borderline. I think I liked Bombad Jedi so much because I could actually see it. I hope this is not a continuing trend.
Still half and half on the milk scale as a whole. And, I'm calling in the next 2 episodes Dooku and Obi-Wan have a chat about Qui-Gon. Also, just to stick my neck way out, sometime during the series, Obi-Wan's home world will be revealed.
