Go to www.AFI.com to check 'em out, then come and read this supplement. A little late I know, but here's what's wrong with 'em...
Animated - Shrek? New Eddie Murphy with digital poo poo and booger jokes and no Sleeping Beauty or The Iron Giant on the list? Hardly. I'd rather listen to Mia Farrow crooning in The Last Unicorn.
Western - What the hell is Cat Ballou doing on a list that doesn't include Winchester '73 or The Shootist? I just watched McCabe and Mrs. Miller and it was a bit of a snore, I'm sad to say.
Epic - Reds felt like they needed a space to fill. Ghandi or Dr. Zhivago would've filled it better.
Sci-Fi - Terminator 2 over the first one? Bleh! And where's the Star Trek love? I'd watch Montalban give his Ahab lines in Wrath Of Khan over Arnie's embarrassing (EMBARRASSING, I say!) "I know now why you cry" any day.
Fantasy - Well, at least they didn't make Fantasy share a category with Sci Fi. But they only put two fantasy movies (King Kong and Fellowship of the -gag- Ring) on the list...the rest are family films or comedies. Where's Excalibur? Conan The M.F. Barbarian? Neverending Story? Clash Of The Titans? Jason And The Argonauts? This list should've been outsourced to some nerds.
Courtroom Drama - This genre is popular? Well, then Inherit The Wind over A Few Good Men.
Sports - Caddyshack is a comedy and golf isn't a sport (yeah, I said it). Jerry Maguire is a romantic comedy. Where's Requiem For A Heavyweight and Chariots Of Fire? Hell, where's Rudy, or Everybody's All American?
Gangster - OK, No problems here.
Mystery - I just don't like Vertigo. It's boring and unbelievable. Rope is a better Jimmy Stewart/Hitchcock collaboration and my fave is Strangers On A Train. But this one's just my opinion. Everything else is fact
