Silence is Golden
I watched A New Hope last night and something stuck out at me. It was the scene when Luke goes back to tell Obi-Wan that he will go with him when he found out his aunt and uncle were murdered by the Empire. Luke says to Ben (paraphrasing) I want to learn the ways of the force and become a Jedi like my father. Obi-Wan looks at him and places his hand on his shoulder. I never realized that was a powerful, although quick, moment. Can you imagine what was going through Obi-Wan's mind when Luke told him that? I know Ben was pushing him to join him, but to have Luke, the son of Anakin, give up his life (well, more like it was taken from him) and look at him, and and say that line was really cool to me.

At first I thought that Lucas missed an opportunity to expand that moment. I mean, the history that Ben has been through the 30 -40 years before is amazing now that we have the Prequel Trilogy to watch. But then I thought about what could Obi-wan have said to Luke with all of the history he has with Anakin. So Ben just places his hand on his shoulder in a quick reassuring way, as to tell Luke that he will be ok and that the Galaxy is waiting for him and has been for 19 years.

I just thought that was a really special (and quick) moment that initially connects the past of the Jedi Order with the future. Sometimes saying nothing is much better.
