Fan Kit Review
So a few days back, I received the kit for the fan club, which I had been anticipating for a while. Thus, I have wrote this review, grading each item from 1 to 5 Yodas. International Hyperspace prospects may want to use this review to decide whether the kit is worth the extra five credits.

1. Letter from George Lucas
It is always good to hear from the man.
Score: :):):):):)

2. The Force Unleashed Poster
This is probably the best poster out of the other ones. It showcases the cool artwork of Vader's apprentice taking down a Star Destroyer and makes the poster in the style of a movie poster. Though, I would like it if they didn't brand everything with "Official Star Wars Fan Club 2008".
Score: :):):):):)

3. Wizards of the Coast Force Unleashed Poster
I am going to tell you right now, I have never, and never will play with miniatures. Not that I have anything against it, but that part of Star Wars is something I don't delve into (like the Expanded Universe). The point of this whole poster was to advertise the new Miniatures line and provide a checklist for them. I'm pretty sure only a small percentage of Hyperspace, actually buys miniatures, so to me, this is a waste of paper.
Score: :|:|

4. Wizards of the Coast Legacy of the Force Poster
Same thing as other miniatures poster, except it has a play mat on the back and involves the Expanded Universe.
Score: :|:|.5

5. Kotobukiya Poster
This is a pretty cool poster. If I ever get the resources, I would buy every single Star Wars item Kotobukiya makes, simply because its so accurate and awesome, especially the bounty hunter line, which is featured on the poster. Yet, I don't want to put posters up that have checklists on them.
Score: ;;;.5

6. Comic
Wow. Dark Horse and Hyperspace truly deserve a round of applause for this comic. With beautiful artwork, two wonderful stories, especially the Han/Indy one and a cool ad section, this is good for the price of free.
Score: :):):):):)

7. Yoda Fan Club Card
Cool artwork of Yoda in The Clone Wars, which I'm sure everyone is sitting on their hands waiting for it to come out in theaters (that's to everyone who told me that Star Wars is "done"!) A nice card solidifying that I am a Hyperspace member.
Score: :):):):):)

8. Topps Promo Card
Cool card showing The Force Unleashed, but the back is an advertisement. I hate advertisements.
Score: :|:|:|

9. Gentle Giant Card
Another ad, as if I didn't know about Gentle Giant already. Shows some nice items , though.
Score: ?:|?:|

10. Yoda Patch
Another item showing Yoda from The Clone Wars, which I'm sure everyone is eagerly anticipating. Didn't I say that already? I'm just too excited. Though, I would never sew this on any shirt, its a nice patch.
Score: :):):):)

11. Mimobot Boba Fett Sticker
There were four of these, so I got the cool one. A cool sticker and it even has a discount on its ridiculously priced flash drives!
Score: :):):):)

12. Boba Fett Magnet
Again, another Boba Fett item to my Boba Fett collection. Oh, did I ever mention that I met and got a signed pic from Jeremy Bulloch at CIV? Anyways, its a nice magnet but I don't plan on buying Mighty Muggs anytime soon.
Score: :):):):)

13. Blueprints Ruler
Ugh. To advertise the new book coming out, Lucasfilm sat around and decided "Hey, instead of using a piece of paper, why not make something useful, a ruler!" Genius! As if the world didn't have a ruler in the house. And it's only a six-incher!
Score: ]:)

14. Bookmark
Another advertisement, this time with a bookmark. As if no one had a bookmark.
Score: ]:)

15. Cell Phone Ad
Another ad, but this time gives me a free wallpaper, though I need to text to receive it.
Score: :):):):)

So, this is what I have to say about the kit as a whole. It's good considering that (for Americans) you get it for free and has some cool items. Yet, there are some pretty heavy advertising in this thing, so if you can tolerate that, then this will be a package from the gods. This kit idea has a lot of potential, but Lucasfilm decided to use it for advertising.

Score: :|:|:|.5

If they gave us the Yoda Pez dispenser, this kit would have killed!

i just received my kit today, and i agree with ya, the posters are cool, but i don't know if i'll ever buy the miniatures, and instead of a boba magnet, i got a mighty muggs chewie magnet.. i didn't mind the ruler, but yeah, they should cut down on the advertisements, they have enough here on the website. i was conpused a bit by the bookmark since it said that we would get e member preview of the book they had on there, but i didn't see anything else but the advertisement and an art concept of chewie, so i wonder if that was the "preview" overall it was good..

Nooooo! I haven't got my kit yet. The 07 kit was pretty sweet, but I wasn't jumping up and down or anything. I'm looking forward to the 08 kit. It seems like there's a lot more stuff in it than usual.

It seems like the majority of the kit appeals to either A. a younger audience or B. people who actually hang posters on their walls.

I don't generally hang posters on my walls, and I am not a younger audience. They seem to focus on the cheap stuff like magnets and rulers.

What I would want:

A Yoda Pez dispenser.

A demo-CD of a Star Wars game. (Hey, Gamer's Magazine does it!)

A large apple pie.

A hair sample from George Lucas. (That's collectible, right?)

A Star Wars pen.

2 Tons of solid gold.

This sounds like it was your first membership kit, or else you'd have known it was all advertising... at least a ruler is useful, but if I get a Boba Fett magnet I'm going to puke... :_|
Maybe I'll be trading with DJ Maul.... :D
