I got my Homing Beacon announcement about TOR--Star Wars: The Old Republic, and it didn't even register that this picture I was staring at had anything to do with anything at first. Then, as I read it, I realized how insulted I was. "I mean, what happened? Your [KOTOR story line] drop off or something?"
I'm almost enraged--and normally I think people who feel this way are crazy. But how can this be? How can they do a video game in the style of KOTOR and NOT do KOTOR 3????? "How can you do this? It's outrageous! It's unfair! How can you do an Old Republic game and NOT do KOTOR 3?" "Take a seat, young 2OneBee." "Forgive me, Game Master."
I know what you're thinking. "Now calm down, Chris2OneBee. You have been given a great honor. To see an Old Republic RPG on a next gen console--it's never happened before." "But doing two games and not following up with a third--it's never been done in the history of gaming, it's insulting! I didn't ask for this game to be made." "But it's what you wanted. Your ordering three volumes of Knights of the Old Republic comics seems to have paid off." "That has nothing to do with this."
(sigh) Well, I know there must be thousands of others who agree with me about this. But I'm sure there's an equal number of folks who are just plain happy about it, so...I should try to be happy about it, too, right? Yeah.
It's just...after The Force Unleashed, I've been wishing for a game I could enjoy that wouldn't make me dizzy like that one did. KOTOR proved to be that game series, which, hands down, without question, was THE GREATEST STAR WARS GAME SERIES EVER. In my opinion, that is. So...that being said, as long as they continue with that outstanding tradition, I look forward to seeing the results and of course to buying and becoming addicted to this game, Star Wars: The Old Republic.
I just had to blog about it, to cope with the initial shock and the accompanying disappointment that KOTOR 3 will probably never happen, apparently. Please...I invite those who agree with me..."share your pain with me...and gain strength from the sharing." Oh...am I allowed to say that? A Star Trek V quote? Hmm...probably dangerous...but it's never stopped me before.
(sigh) Man...I hope you at least get to throw thermal detonators at rancors like in the old days. I always liked talking myself into fights I could never win. It usually ended with me dying and having to start over. So I stuck to the light side storylines for the most part--except with that computer guy, the green Twi'lek, I think he was, was that KOTOR 2? Getting to him and finding he was a jerk, I decided he shouldn't have the right to hide behind a computer and endanger my life. So...I sliced him good. Earned some dark side points, but...we all make a choice or three we regret in life, no?
Anyway, if only it wasn't so much trouble hooking up the Xbox again, I might fire up the old KOTOR games just in celebration of this bittersweet moment. I still might get off my couch and do that at some point this weekend.
As for the very few who have been a faithful audience to the Food Wars saga, I pledge to make my best effort to have weekly episodes again like it used to be. Trust me, next week's episode is going to be HILARIOUS. If you've enjoyed it at all, don't miss next week!!! I'll be sure to get it out on Monday. MTFBWY!!!
