 | Did Anakin's severed arm grow back between AOTC and ROTS? |
I've seen Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith more times then I can count. Something that always bothers me in those films is the fact that when Anakin gets his arm cut off at the end of Clones, it is severed above his elbow; yet, in Sith his arm is shown as cut off below the elbow.
Did he somehow find a way to "grow back" part of his limb or was this just a goof on the part of Lucasfilm? I haven't been able to find any explaination as of yet, so I am left wondering.

I know he still has a mecanical arm, but it doesn't start until after his elbow. In ROTS, his arm is cut off after his elbow, but you clearly see in AOTC that his arm was really cut off before his elbow.

Umm, he manipulated the midichlorians to create life, but because he wasn't a master of the Dark Side yet, it only grew back about 4 inches? That's the best I could come up with. Would be a pretty cool deleted scene though

Yeah, I've always wondered about that myself. It's just one of those things we question but never get a good answer to.
Welcome to the blogs, btw.

Hey there! Welcome to the blogs!!
Hmmm....perhaps bacta was able to help somewhat, but obviously couldn't heal his "wound" (if you can call a missing limb that!) completely.
Again, welcome! Look forward to more interesting questions!

Hiya! Always a pleasure to meet a fellow SoCal fan.
Anyhoo, good question... the Complete Visual Dictionary shows that Anakin's mechanical arm started, at the very least, at the elbow. So maybe it was at the right spot. Or maybe only some of his skin grew back. I'm hardly a biologist, so I dunno if it's possible or not.

Well, you know how Luke got a real looking hand, well maybe they had to put the elbow extension to match up with the metal arm. They only had the metal "above the elbow" mechanical arm available and not the elbow. Get what I'm saying??

It's hard to tell exactly where his arm was severed in AOTC, his sleeve obscures how much was cut off.

Hello and Welcome, Adidas Angel
it is severed above his elbow; yet, in Sith his arm is shown as cut off below the elbow. I agree with Sevb27, the sleeves of the Jedi Robes drape and our loose fitting, which obscures the accurate placement of the severed arm. Although, in the novel version it states: Anakin screamed as his right arm dropped to the floor, cut off at the elbow.
That's from the scholastic version of AOTC ( my daughters boxed set from school )
Hope that helps. ~Angel~

Hmmm.... I'm trying to replay the scene in my head and it's hard to tell, in my head anyway, if it's cut off above the elbow or just at the elbow. Now I'll have to check it out when I get home 'cuz it'll drive me nuts! Could be, as stated above, that his sleeves obscured where the actual injury was inflicted so it just looks like it's above the elbow...??
Anyhoo, nice to meet you!

Hi! Nice to see you put up a blog!!
You know, I never noticed that before. Maybe like some have said it's just a filming error - like maybe they wrapped up too much of HC's arm in the blue cloth or maybe his upper arms are just abnormally short.
I think it's a conspiracy: GL did it so we'd have something to talk about on the boards & blogs!!
Can't wait to read more of your stuff & keep visiting us on the boards!!

Maybe the arm did have fake skin for a while, but was damaged in battle, like the Terminator!

its a little know fact that Anakin is part lizard...all that talk about "The Midichlorians" created him was a cover up for the fact that Shmi had an affair with Falleen... ![]:)](http://blogs.starwars.com/share/img/emoticons/devil.gif)

It's a filming error! When Dooku cut off Anakin's arm you can't place the cut until Anakin falls onto the ground, the robes fly back towards the shoulder, and you can clearly see where the arm was cut off. Above the elbow.
