Is OBSESSION a kind of LOVE?
I'm sure someone has written a blog about this but I'll try and write it in a different view.

Was Anakin's LOVE for Padme' an OBSESSION? I mean, think about it... his dialouge:
"You're exactly the way I remeber you in my dreams."
Or:
"From the moment I met you, all those years ago, a day hasn't gone by when I haven't thought of you"
He thinks about her everyday - even when he was still a young boy. When he asks her, "What can I do... I will do anything you ask." It's like he's telling her that he could be her SLAVE - he will do ANYTHING to have her want him.

And let's think of another possiblitity, without reference from the books: HE NEVER SAID "I LOVE YOU" to Padme (remember, only the movies. ;)) Never once! Padme says it to him, alot... alot, alot. Spread the love, man! Padme loves you - she LOVES you, but do you? You OBSESS about her... but is OBSESSING a kind of love?

obsess verb,
1. To preoccupy the mind of excessively. (obsessing, obsessed, obsesses)
2. To have the mind excessively preoccupied with a single emotion or topic: "She's dead. And you're still obsessing" (Scott Turow).

Let's take down dictionary.com's definition of OBSESS 1 by 1.

To preoccupy the mind excessively: now, thats Anakin. That's take that line again, "You're exactly the way I remeber you in my dreams." He thinks about her, and DREAMS about her: in his SLEEP! Now, that's obsessing.

To have the mind excessively preoccupied with a single emotion or topic: in Anakin's case, this might mean he was PREOCCUPIED with this single emotion that he thought he LOVED her, when it was all just OBSESSIVE EMOTIONS, not really deep love.

Although, this might have changed when they got married: because getting married means you SWEAR to love her: and he did. He came to see her whenever he got a chance, especially when he became a Jedi, so that Obi-Wan wasn't hanging over him every second of day and night. Then, when Anakin knew that Padme was pregnant with HIS child, he shows deep affection for her, when he tries to SAVE her from his dreadful nightmares. Even though trying to save her from his nightmares turned out... BAD, he still tried. And he loved her when she died. Let's take that line again from Scott Turow:
"She's dead. And you're still obsessing!"

What we know when we read DARK LORD is that Anakin REGRETS turning over to the dark side, because he LOVES Padme, and wishes her to be with him. But, why can't Anakin/Vader just let Padme GO? She's gone, and there's nothing he can do to stop it: because he killed her, by breaking her heart. But he still OBSESSES over her, because he KNEW it was his fault for her dreaful passing to become one with the Force.

So it can be both ways: Obsessing, AND loving.
