This scene in Revenge of the Sith has always bothered me; you know, the one with Padme brushing her hair (with a hairbrush with no brissles, have you noticed that?) and Anakin watching her (Anakin looked ah-mazing when he smiles).
"Ani, I want to have our baby back home on Naboo. Where we can be safe," Padme says, then she turns. "I can go early to fix up the baby's room!"
Seriously - I know, cheesy dialouge: but this had MEANING. Why did Padme THINK that they could have their baby back on Naboo? If Padme wanted Anakin to stay in the Jedi Order, and still see eachother, then that wasn't going to happen if they were on two different planets.
Padme needed to stay on Curuscant because of her duties in the Senate - they couldn't be avoided because it was the orders from Naboo's current Queen. Of course, she could resign.
And Anakin, of course, was a Jedi - and the Jedi Temple was on Curuscant. That was his station, unless he was redirected otherwisse on a Jedi Mission, which happens alot, so it seemed.
I always believed that Padme wanted Anakin to remain a Jedi because it's what he was BORN for: the whole chosen one deal. That's what he was in this galaxy for, after all. But when I heard this, on my first ever viewing of the best movie ever, I was puzzled. I read the book - need I remind you, that this dialouge isn't in the book - and it says that she didn't want him to give up her future for her (as she said in AOTC) and that he
needed to be a Jedi. Of course, it would be wonderful for her if they could live a normal life as a family, but to her, it wasn't going to happen any time soon.
To tell you the truth, I think this mushy dialouge comes from George's attempt to capture a married couple's realationship - but it still puzzles me why he put it in the final movie, as it does for alot of us.
