"
We got seperated!" - Luke Skywalker to Han Solo about Princess Leia Organa in Return of the Jedi
Over the past weeks, I've done alot of catching up on my Star Wars obsession. My best friend has always been this chick flick movie freak who would never watch Star Wars even how many times I begged her to. I made a bet to her about a line from
Steel Magnolias and she got it wrong. I won, so she had to sit through all six episodes without squirming. Needless to say, she is a Star Wars fan to the extreme now.
Although, she is obsessed with the original trilogy. I've always been obsessed with Anakin and Padme, so I've loved the prequel trilogy. Since she's obsessed, I've sat down and watched then OT with her numerous times now. In particular, she's obsessed with Luke.
Anyway, my friend is adopted. While watching Return of the Jedi, a line stuck to me. "
We got seperated!" is a line full with irony. I mean, seriously, Luke and Leia DID get seperated a birth, so for Luke to say it so blankly, I always chuckle. My friend has always wondered about her birth mother and father, and if she has any siblings now or ever before. It boggles my mind to think about things that way; adopted children could be around their birth siblings or parents and not even know it.
Before I started blogging, I never really reliezed how much Star Wars really relates to our lives now. Now, I look at Star Wars and think about how maybe this could be happening - or happened before.
