Here's where the fun begins - timelines, continuity and that sort of thing

Notes from the timeline-obsessed.
I quite enjoy the Star Wars universe. It's an incredibly interesting place, with room enough for a wide array of stories. These stories differ in tone and content, but all seem to have their place in the Galaxy Far, Far Away. For me, I find it especially satisfying when things "click" in place. I've maintained a timeline for many years (which, as of now, is still a disparate collection of word documents), broken down in a month-by-month style (IE: how many months has it been since the Battle of Yavin?) and have always felt that the Star Wars expanded universe is sort of like a giant puzzle. Some pieces are missing, obviously, and it is quite fun to figure out how these holes in the narrative can or should be fixed. Obviously, story and character are still the number one concern in fiction, but it is a truly wonderful thing when it all fits together. I'm a member of the vaunted Star Wars Fanboy Association, and hope to keep this blog as a running commentary on the obstacles I encounter in amateur timeline-ing, notes on the current expanded universe, excerpts from my timeline (and perhaps, eventually, the entire thing) and thoughts on certain continuity gaffes. Hope you enjoy!
