How many Duel's were started with that phrase in our history...yet that is what I felt like this weekend when I had a young woman at a LARP I was attending say these Icey cold words " I Hate Star Wars".

At first I found myself rooted into place...disbelief...almost panic spread through my body as I glared at her. "Don't like Star Wars?" I asked, unable to grasp these words arranged in such a fashion, it was like saying that you hated Santa Claus...or that Bambi would make good Jerky...it just seemed wrong.

She explained that Episodes 1 through 3 were'nt that good, My mental wall prevented me from even realizing that there had been a episode 1 and 2 and only vaguely allowed me memories of 3 so I fired back with "Star Wars is ANH, ESB and RoTJ". "HA" I thought, "Victory is mine" she could not possibly fight back from that...but she did.

She was young, maybe 20, she looked at me at explained that the original 3 movies had no surprises for her, that they were so done, so known by the time she had seen them that they offered no suspense for her. "Ouch!" I thought, she was right, I guess allot of old folk forget that most people didn't ride their schwins to the Theatres every Saturday to see the movie, Skip school to see the first matinee of the next two.

I am glad I showed my son the movies when he was younger, so he could be entertained by them before the plots were ruined by countless pop references and homage's. I guess I can understand her point, maybe those three films are dearer to my generation, they took our young breath away as we sat with eyes wide, in Huge theatres, paying the princely some of 1.00 for a matinee.

Ok sister...you will live...for now, but I find your lack of faith disturbing.
