Mace and Yoda were right all along : Anakin was 2 old 4 jedi training . He had already seen things that the jedi masters protected the children from , the masters sheltered them from hate and greed 2 prevent them from turning to the darkside . Anakin had already seen these things growing up on Tatooine and look what happened, he turned 2 the darkside , so you see that the masters reasons were good and they helped.Yoda also sensed fear in Anakin , which leads 2 the darkside .Because most of Anakin's childhood was outside the jedi temple , he a attachment : his mother and he was afraid 2lose her . In AOTC he dreams she was in pain , had he grown up at the temple he wouldn't have known his mom so he probably wouldn't have had nightmares about her . The he falls in love with Padme and he becomes attached to her 2 and afraid 2 lose her despite what the jedi code says and when he consults Yoda in ROTS , Yoda says , attachment leads 2 jealousy and that is the shadow of greed and that Anakin needs 2 learn to let go of those he loves but Anakin lets this advice , which could have saved him AND Padme , go in one ear and out the other because it wasn't what he wanted 2 hear .So it turns out all the jedi councils reasons for originally refusing 2 let Anakin be trained were correct , including Obi-Wan and Mace telling Qui-Gon that Anakin was dangerous.So it turns out if Qui-gon had listened 2 Yoda and Mace in there original decision and hadn't made Obi-Wan promise 2 train Anakin , the great jedi purge might have been avoided.
