Rediscovering the magic of the OT
Yesterday a friend of mine came over and we watched the OT together . She had never , ever seen it before ( well once at her house we started watching ANH but we were too tired and gave up when we weren't very far into the movie , about 20 minutes or less ) I hadn't watched the OT for quite awhile ( the last time I watched a OT movie was a couple months ago) and the last time I did I suppose I wasn't very open minded . This time I think I was much more open minded . As my friend was watching the OT for the first time I discovered something : I had forgotten how much I liked the OT . I forgot how much I loved the humor and the fun in it . But yesterday that changed , I realized once again how wonderful the OT is , how enjoyable it is to so many people . I once again fell in love with the wonderful story that began the SW saga , the story that began it all . I still do prefer the PT but now I do remember how great the OT is and can understand somewhat why some people like the OT better. Yesterday changed my SW fandom , in a good way though , I now appreciate the OT some much more than I had . It was such a great experience , now I think I love SW more than ever . Watching the OT with my friend turned at to be as great for me as it was for her . :D Comments are welcome , ( as always , lol )

I know how that feels... I'm currently watching the OT as if I were reading books again after a long time... I also came to realize it is so much more "human" than the prequels, it's the story of Luke Skywalker but also that of his friends and family. And that's a really cool part, too. :)

It's impossible to just get sick of the OT.

The OT just has this feel about it, I love it.

Probably even more than the PT.........

I noticed you said that the PT is your favourite of the two trilogies, for me i find it very difficult to distinguish which is best because they are so different from one another.
To look at it, the action in the PT is so much more intense, every child hood fantasy any SW fan ever had about wielding a lightsaber in combat was shown in full glory in the PT.
However, the deep story telling and the intense friendships that bind the OT together make it so much more fulfilling that i can't choose whether i prefer the OT to the PT.

But yes, i often love to sit back and revisit all three OT movies and just reminisce over them. There is an heir of magic too them because they always take you back to your childhood (well it does for me anyway). The best thing about experiencing these movies as an adult is you get to appreciate even more the story that goes behind the whole OT. For example as a child i used to enjoy Empire but never loved it as it lacked action and had Luke losing to Vader. Now though it is my favourite movie of the trilogy and quite possibly of the entire SW saga, just listening to Yoda as he instructs Luke is so enthralling to me that i could never get tired of hearing his philosophies of the force.

ESB tops my list, as well.

Luke: You killed my father!

Vader: No. I am your father.

What! Did he just say he was Luke's father! Rewind!

i like the OT for the reason almost everyone does... alot of us saw the OT when we were kids... it was one of the first movies i can remember... ive seen AHN about 20+ times but its one of the few movies i saw as a kid that had such an impression so i can listen to it without seeing it and not only know what scene it is but exactly whats happening ( i mean alot of people can do that by listening to the music but i can hear Sound FX... like when the ST hit his head on the blast door without listening for it...)

I too enjoy the OT for the reasons mentioned above. The relationships there in, the things you didn't see coming What! Did he just say he was Luke's father! Rewind!, the nostalgia...
Where were you when SW came out? What house did you live in, who was your best friend, who did you see the movie with, where did you see it? I saw ANH on opening day at the Cinedome in Orange County, CA. Obviously the theatre was a dome shape and half of it was the screen! It was like this awesome new sci-fi film was all around you- almost like you were there... too cool for a nine year old, even for an adult! My dad by the way, saw TPM at 2:00am on opening day... what a nut, guess that's where I get it.:)

I love both. I would have to say that I favour the PT more though. But I just can't pick my list. I know III is first, but than I can't make any more decisions.

good to see your back. lol. Well Star Wars does that too you. You watch it and you love it even more. That's the one thing I think the PT needed more off, Humor.

Yes, I prefer The prequal its my favorite but where would we be without the OT? they brought us star wars and makes the prequals mind blowing with their answers to those questions that arose from the OT. PT didn't have the humor but it couldn't they were different times they were more serious, civilized and organized and I find they are perfect.
p.s. I'm a new member and I love starwars and i love i have you guys to discuss it with, you know how hard it is to talk to your friends about it when they think your a dork?

Hey, we know what you mean. All that matters is what you think of yourself so don't even let that get to you. People who think we're weird, usually haven't seen the movies and can't even begin to understand our fandom. They have no idea how amazing the story is.

As the owner of the company I work for says.. Have fun, be different!
So, welcome JediKara07! Get ready to have some good times here! Happy New Year!!!!!

My friends already think Im a dork so I usualy dont have any problems :D

By the way...It is hard to choose between the PT and the OT. I cant choose between the two. I love ROTS and ESB...so I cant really choose between the two. But I do like the characters in the PT a lot more though.

I find that the OT seems to have so much more humor because of Han's overconfident attitude which gets 3PO all annoyed.
