 | Jar Jar Binks : Why is he hated so much ? |
Ok, now I know that alot of people hate Jar Jar for various reasons , some people say he's retarded and not funny and if you think he's funny then you laugh at anything . Well not so , Jar Jar is a very amusing character in TPM , he provides most of the comic relief in that movie as R2 isn't as big a character as he is in the other movies and 3PO isn't in most of the movie .If you don't like Jar Jar , thats fine but there isn't any reason to keep hating on him .Alot of people dislike that in the special dvd edition of ROTJ that his line [ or possibly his as all we know is that a gungan yelled '' Wesa Free'' ] is the last audible line in the saga , its not that big a deal , its just one line after all and I don't mind it , in fact I actually like that they put that in .As people say , don't hate , appreciate , so don't hate Jar Jar for being stupid , appreciate his stupidity for what it is , something funny.Watch the movies with the heart of a child and appreciate everything for what it is .i hope you enjoyed this and please no flaming and if you don't like this blog please don't reply to it and please do not cite your hatred for Jar Jar in this blog . i think people were suprised by the way he spoke and acted like a child...the way i see it is that he was a kid in the first movie and grew up in between...
im with you, guy. i think that he was a valuable part of the saga, after all who gave the chancellor emergency powers in AOTC?? is it possible that with out his influence, nothing in the later films could have happened??
its possible...

ok, not to mess up all the positive vibes here, but im on the other side. i dont hate Jar Jar. lets say im a "Jar Jar disliker." and although there are many things that annoy me, let me just point out the main thing. it not his attitude or clumbsiness. its that at certain parts he seems like a cartoon charachter, literally. the jump in the water, the juggling at Watto's and the tongue during the dinner scene. just make him seem unreal. to me, he was Roger Rabbit, not a real character. he was a cartoon.
i think he is very funny in parts, and have no problem with him in the movie. i just think they went to far over-the-top with him.
i hope this is looked at as a fair minded criticism, and not a hate filled rant. cause its not meant to be.

I'm not going to say anything bad about Jar Jar but maybe if they made his character not "clumsy" he would have been a better character. You know that the other Gungan that took Jar Jar to Boss Nass ( I don't know his name b/c I can barely understand him.)

Bach Solo: maybe, just maybe, the reason he looked so much like a cartoon character was because he was not real. He wasn't, and he never will be. Deal with it
Dark Moose: Hilarious, as always. Its fun to be racsist
Jar Jar was hated so much because some people were desperate for something to hate. With a franchise so large, long and successful as Star Wars, it not only develops critisizm from the outside but from the inside as well. The "anti-fans" latch onto the slightest of slights and turn it into something catastrophic. It is as simple as blind hate, they could be considered Sith
The ability to speak does not make you intelligent, now get out of here

I wonder.....what would the ratio of children vs adults who dislike or "hate" Jar Jar Binks?
I think that there would be many more adults who hate Jar Jar as compared to the children. Of course, I'm 32 and I like Jar Jar.
Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons hugged his Jar Jar Binks doll and said..."Oooo, Jar Jar...everyone hates you but me." I often say that line when I see Jar Jar. Of course, I do know a lot of people do like him, besides me.

Well , he was made 2 be clumsy and idiotic because that is usually where he makes you laugh , with his clumsiness and his funny way of speaking . I don't mind if some of you dislike him , I just don't like when people start ranting that his character ruined TPM and stuff like that . Also if you can't understand the gungans when they speak try watching the movie with subtitles and to bold , italize or underline something , highlight it then click the button. I also like Jar Jar .

I'll go on record as saying that I enjoyed Jar Jar's role in Episode I. Certainly a light hearted character much needed when you consider the darkness of Episode III. But you can't please everyone, and some people seem to have a very strong possessive reaction when it comes to Star Wars. I think of Yoda saying, "Mine, mine, mine!"

I think Jar-Jar is well done. The reason he was treated badly because TPM story was not good. Some of SWARS fan thought TPM was probably too childish, and blamed Jar-Jar for that.

The reason he was treated badly because TPM story was not good.
That is strictly a matter of opinion. In fact I would say the reasons for the dislike of Jar Jar are as random and varied as any opinion that you will ever find. Movies, like any form of art, are completely subjective.

I don't have a problem with him least of all the speaking part
Singaporeans speak another form of English (Singlish) that is just as garbled but more respectable and practical

Every good sci-fi has a character you love to hate. In the Original Trilogy, 3PO was a bumbing idiot and the cause of many of the heroes' scrapes. You need that charactor: Bishop from Aliens, Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: TNG, the list goes on ...
