It seems strange to be writing a blog entry that fits into the same category as yesterday's entry, but I just feel like talking about the Episode III video game. I beat the game on the first day it was out. I had pre-ordered it from EB Games and it arrived in the mail on May 5th which was the day it came out. Since then I have played it through several times. I have the X-box version of the game. It is a fairly short game, but I still enjoy it. The first time through I do have to admit that I used the cheat codes, but I have since gone back and beaten it without the cheat codes.
I thought the game was good for a movie tie-in. IMO, the game play is fairly staight forward. One problem that I can see in this game is that you cannot move the camera around at all. If the camera is pointed at some strange angle where the enemy you are fighting is not even visible you just have to deal with it. Last night I was playing one of the levels on Utapau and I was at the point where Obi-wan fights the crab droid and the camera seemed to have a close up of the crab droid for a little while and I could not even see Obi-wan. This made it somewhat difficult to fight the crab droid because I couldn't even see where Obi-wan was or how I was moving him.
All in all, I would have to say that I really like this game. As I said before, it is a little short but I think that for any Star Wars fan this game will still be plenty fun. I really like the way that the lightsaber fighting looks in this game. I also like the duel mode and the bonus missions on this game are okay. I think they could have made the duel modes so that you could play them online, but I guess you can't have everything you want. I really did like the scenes from the movie that made it into the game. I have to say that the game does have things happen slightly differently from the movie, but I guess they mainly did that so that you could have the gameplay go smoothly.
I would guess that most people here would really enjoy this game, but if your really not sure whether you will like this game, it is probably better to rent it before you buy it. As I said, it is a really short game and you may not think it is worth the money to buy it.
