I. GUIDELINES
- What kind of behavior is not allowed on blogs?
Posts to blogs.starwars.com are subject to the Lucas Online Terms of Use (including submission policy), and should adhere to the same rules and guidelines as the Star Wars forums.
So please no flaming, racial/religious/gender slurs, obscenity, spam, all CAPS LOCK, and other extreme newbie behavior. Click here for proper Forum N-etiquette tips.
- How are the blogs regulated?
As with the starwars.com forums, the starwars.com blogs may be monitored by volunteer moderators appointed by the Star Wars blog administrators. If an entry is found that is deemed obscene or features copyrighted material, the entry may be locked. If an entry is locked, then it is unreadable to the general public until the author of the entry confers with the moderators in the "Blog Feedback" section of forums.starwars.com.
- How will I know if my blog is blocked and what do I do if it is?
There will be a graphic image on your individual entry and within your blog's main landing page to indicate to you which blog entry has been blocked. Until you confer with a moderator in the forums in Blog Feedback your entry will remain blocked.
To find out why your blog entry was blocked, post your Blog Name and the blocked entry's PERMLINK or URL in the Blog Feedback forum. This will help the mods determine which entry was blocked, they can then look at the notes and deal with you directly in Blog Feedback to help get your blog back on track.
- What happens if I am banned from blogs? Or banned from the message boards?
If you are banned from the forums, you are also banned from submitting new entries to your blog. Your entire blog will be hidden from view until you are unbanned. Likewise, if you are banned due to an issue with your blog, you cannot post to the message boards other than in the Forum Feedback or Blog Feedback forums to request help from the mods.
II. MISCELLANEOUS QUESTIONS:
- How do I get my blog listed in the "Most Popular Blog Entries" section?
The blogs listed in the "Latest Top 5" area as well as the "Most Popular Blog Entries" list are calculated by the popularity of the blog entries for that day. Each day the list changes based on readership of each blog entry. The more people who read your blog, the better your chances of seeing your blog entry listed. After you write your entry be sure to let friends and family know so they can read your entry and add to its popularity.
- What is the "Featured Blog of the Day" and how do I get my blog listed?
The "Featured Blog of the Day" -- which is located in the sidebar box on the left hand side of the main blog page -- is a blog handpicked by the blogging admins. The blog will often be a VIP blog so fans can discover one of their favorite Star Wars authors, artists, crew members and so on. Regular bloggers like yourself can also be picked. The selection is not necessarily based on popularity, but on creativity, how well the blog is written on a regular basis, and other factors.
- How can I email my blog or someone else's blog link to a friend?
On the "Blog Tools" sidebar box on every blog, there is a link that says "Email Blog Link."
Click on it and a window will appear for you to fill out the recipient's email address to send the link to. Be sure to include your email address as well, so your friend knows who sent them the link.
- How can I read all the blog entries about gaming? Or collecting?
To read blog entries based on category, as opposed to simply the most recent entries or most popular, simply click on the categories listed on the main blog page sidebar box on the lower left-hand corner. They are also listed in the tabs listed at the top of the page alongside "Write a Blog," "About Blogs" and "Latest Top 5." There you can find all the latest entries on everything from the films to the expanded universe of comics, books and television and more! All entries that are Star Wars related are tagged with a category symbol, so readers can read by their own personal interests. Once you are on an individual category page, you can then sort the entries based on posting date or popularity.
- What’s the difference between "Blog Settings" and my "Hyperspace Profile"?
Both the "Blog Settings" and "Hyperspace Profile" are listed in the "Blog Tools" area on the left-hand side of your blog page. "Blog Settings" is where you can edit your blog name, blog intro paragraph, and manage your blog roll. In the "Hyperspace Profile", you can change information about yourself like your age, company, website URL, bio, email and instant messaging settings.
- How do I change my avatar?
Go to the "Blog Tools" area on the left-hand side of your blog page and you will see the "Change Avatar" option listed under "Manage Blog Archive."
- When my Hyperspace membership goes away is my blog account hidden, deleted, or just left there until it's accessed again by resubscribing?
It remains where it is, but cannot be edited or updated without resubscribing.
