This insane theory requires an illustration.
Though it's not like people don't already know what I'm talking about.

I know what species Yoda is. Yoda is a Mogwai.

Check it out and don't even try to deny it.

Gizmo is a juvenile of the same species as Yoda. I have already concluded that E.T. takes place in the same universe as Star Wars, so why can't Gremlins?

Incidentally, I have decided that the plural of "Yoda" is "Yodae."

I want to see a planet of Yodae. I want to see millions of little green (and why not blue, or grey, or brown?) guys hanging from trees by their clawed toes.

I know it will never happen, but I can dream. :D

Hm. The Jedi ability of absorbing and disappating energy would explain how Yoda can stand direct sunlight. He must be a transitional stage between Mogwai and Gremlin, given his finger count. ;)

And we never do see him get wet...

I was trying to remember if he did while he was running Luke through his training while on Dagobah. I don't recall any occasions when he did. I can't imagine how he could avoid it, though, living on a swamp world.

Perhaps once they get past a particular age, that is no longer a factor. Or (and don't shoot me here as I'm only using this example as a frame of reference) after a particular age, they go through a "seven year itch" type thing like Vulcans where getting wet isn't an issue anymore. Just a couple of theories to expand on yours, Culator.

WOW! It was in front of us, out there the whole time and I never made the connection! :O

Thanks for unveiling one of the secrets of SW (and life) that got me up at night thinking every single day! :D

Cool stuff. ;)

"When 900 years old you reach, look as good, you will not." - Yoda, Ep VI

Wow...excellent! I agree with hansgirl13, Yoda is beyond the point of being affected by water. Like a true Master, he has overcome his weaknesses and made them his strengths. Thinking that Yoda started out as furry little youngling brings warm feelings to my heart...ha! :)

OK, so the Mogwai life-cycle goes Gizmo -> Gremlin -> Yoda. Then the Mogwai homeworld would have them in all three stages of growth.

Perhaps the infant and adolescent Mogwai live in caves, and they migrate to an above-ground (possibly arboreal) lifestyle on reaching adulthood.

"never seen that movie or whatever it is so I do not really get it....."

I was under the impression that all English-speaking individuals born in or before 1990 had seen Gremlins or Gremlins 2 or both.

(Of course, I also used to think that all citizens of the United Kingdom liked Monty Python, until I encountered a Scotsman who had never heard the SPAM song.)
