It all makes sense now.
Kyle Katarn was actually artificially created by the fusion of the DNA of Chuck Norris and Vin Diesel, combined with Darth Plagueis's ability to create life. He was created by the Sith Time Lord Jacen Solo to be his apprentice.

Kyle Katarn doesn't know it, but he can travel through time just by thinking about it really hard. Since Kyle Katarn is incapable of feeling remorse or regret (he just fakes it to lull people into thinking he's a normal human), he has not yet accidentally discovered this power.

Kyle Katarn will inevitably turn against Jacen, and they will each use their time-travel powers to try to destroy the other. This Time War will spread, and eventually engulf the planet Gallifrey. The few surviving Time Lords will flee to a remote world and become the Aing-Tii. They will one day teach their time-travel powers to Jacen Solo, completing one link in a chain of interlocking time loops.

The battle between Katarn and Solo will go on for millennia, causing many events that future historians call "continuity errors."

Eventually, the two will tire of the endless battle and agree to meet in single combat. Their equal but opposite powers will annihilate each other in a detonation that is visible for many light-years.
