What's not to like about sand?
Earlier today I took a jog along the beach and as I stopped to dip my toes in the cool water, I thought about Anakin and his total dislike for sand. Of course, it's understandable given most of his childhood was spent on a harsh, hot, dry desert planet. But it's still kind of sad that such a simple thing as sand could cause a guy to wriggle like a worm on a hook and potentially ruin a romantic moment with a beautiful woman. Ok, Ani's childhood was less than ideal. I'm sure he watched many a kite disappear into the suns, being unable to hold the string and wipe away the crusty layer on his eyes at the same time. And he probably didn't get to enjoy his lunchbreaks, his blue milk always somewhat gritty. And most likely, playing jacks in the sand with the other slave kids was also frustrating (does a ball bounce well in sand? Not really). But maybe it was destined that he should hate the stuff. I couldn't imagine the time it would take to pick it out of his Vader suit if he actually would've wanted to go back to Tatooine to remininisce.

Well, thankfully, today I enjoyed the sand, though I admit to letting my mind wander away for a moment on an imaginary vacation to the waterfalls and perfectly bugless beaches of Naboo.
